I believe that clients deserve to be heard and understood as individuals, and that treatment should be flexibly tailored to meet their needs and goals. Rather than adopting a “one size fits all” approach to therapy, clients who choose to work with me will find that I create a highly collaborative therapeutic environment where they can learn customized strategies for addressing life's challenges, promoting personal growth, and enhancing well-being. I enjoy working with adults, couples and adolescents looking for guidance and support with their goals.

You know something needs to change. You just don't want to talk in circles about it.
Maybe ADHD makes it hard to focus, follow through, or slow your brain down. Maybe anger goes from 0 to 100 before you even realize what's happening. Maybe alcohol, substances, gambling, gaming or another habit started as a way to cope; and now it's creating problems of its own.
You don't need judgement. You don't need a lecture. And you don't need someone who expects you to have the perfect words for what you're going through.

I specialize in helping people who are struggling with addiction issues and/or anxiety and mood disorders. I really enjoy working with ‘stuck’ clients. Those people who know they want or need change but aren’t sure how to get there. You are not broken, and you do not need to be fixed. You might be feeling a little lost though. Let me serve as a guide to walk with you and show you some possible ways out. You don't need to commit to any long term therapy or all the 'what ifs' at this point. All you need to do is reach out and make that first connection. Let's have a conversation about what's going on.

You may have spent years holding it together while feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, or unsure of what you need. Perhaps you've always been the strong one, yet something feels missing. Many of us were never taught what to do with our emotions, so we learned to push them aside. I’m accepting new clients. If you want to ask some big questions, I can
help. My areas of focus are addiction, trauma, burnout, and major life
changes. I bring a philosophical, psychological, and existential approach to
your issues. What does that mean? Together we examine, values, priorities,
adherence to self, and making change happen. Identifying the issues is
important but, as a wise 12-stepper once put it, "Nothing changes if nothing
changes" You CAN change. I can help you get there.

Understanding your personality type, and knowing your spiritual self is key to healing. It is about quieting the mind enough to see clearly. This is a skill that is developed through inner work practices, which I blend into our therapy sessions.

Are there specific medications for alcohol use?
There are oral medications approved to treat alcohol use disorder—such as disulfiram, acamprosate, and naltrexone, which also comes in an injectable form. These medications do help people reduce their drinking as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone helps reduce cravings, disulfiram can make a person feel sick when they drink, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.
How do alcohol recovery or rehabilitation programs work?
In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other patients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals live at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff can also include people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other tools for recovery.
How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?
Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.
How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for alcohol use reduce the amount of alcohol they intake. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
