EMDR is a therapy that has you focus on a trigger or trauma while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (eye movement, tapping or tones), leading to a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the incident. Thoughts, behaviours, feelings, traumas or environmental triggers may be maintaining your stress, grief, anxiety, depression, addiction, or other issues. EMDR and other methods can improve your physical, emotional and psychological health and wellness to increase your sense of well‐being, alleviate feelings of stress, reframe negative thoughts, or work through any recent crises or past traumas.

In another field, I have watched the struggle parents and kids experience. Frustration, concern, joy, fear, anxiety, and the emotional impact children and their parents experience as they navigate school expectations and daily life. The highs and lows. The lack of motivation, low self-esteem, anxiety and trauma. These are the reasons, I chose counseling as my second career. I want to support both parents and children to build better skills, and figure out how to be and love themselves - just as they are - to provide a safe space for growth.

I work with adults of all ages who may be struggling with PTSD, complex-PTSD, attachment trauma, childhood trauma, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, burnout, emotional dysregulation, and ADHD.
Reaching out for support whether it be your first time, or one of many can be daunting. Often, you may not really understand why you don't feel like yourself. You just know something isn't right and that you're struggling. Part of my role is to create a comfortable and emotionally safe environment and to help you connect the dots so you can stop the patterns that are causing you pain and distress. I know the vulnerability required to share and work together can only happen if there is trust and freedom to express yourself and my approach is very open-minded, empathetic, collaborative, and nonjudgmental.

Maybe ADHD has you juggling too much, and now it’s all crashing down.
Picture waking up clear-headed, confident, and in control. You say no without guilt, set boundaries that stick, and feel grounded instead of overwhelmed. Relationships feel supportive, not draining, because you’ve broken free from old patterns that no longer serve you. Therapy can help heal from trauma and create a life that feels lighter, calmer, and yours.

I love working with children, teens, and adults facing anxiety, depression, low mood, lack of motivation and purpose, complex trauma, abusive relationships, suicide & self harm, as well as ADHD & ASD and personality disorders.
I am so excited you are here! Therapy for me has been a place of safety, growth, and healing, and my passion is to provide the same for you. I believe we are born with an intuitive sense of knowing, and as we grow up, our experiences can either drown out, or confuse our own intuition. My goal is for you to find a place of safety in which you can heal, and gently tune back in to your own voice & intuition to guide you. Your unique experiences and pain deserve to be given attention and care, and through this process we can discover and heal what is hindering you from living your life to the fullest.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
