All too often, when we experience painful thoughts, feelings or sensations we react in ways that are self-defeating and self-destructive. Over time, these habitual reaction patterns can manifest in a variety of ways such as anxiety, depression, phobias, disordered eating or addiction. Psychotherapy can help you with the immediate problem or situation you are facing. More importantly, it can help you gain insight as to the root cause of your emotional pain, to come to a place of self-acceptance and self-compassion, and to adopt positive coping skills in order to live a more engaged and meaningful life.

Reaching out for support was something that I found the most challenging part of my personal journey, because it meant that I had to admit to myself that I wasn't doing very well. It's not a character flaw, it just means that the tools and strategies that maybe served you well in the past, aren't working anymore. I will listen to you, empower you, and explain how your system (mind, emotions, nervous system) works.
You paint a picture in my mind by telling me what your unique situation is, and I will create a personal treatment plan, support you on your journey, until you can walk by yourself again.

Mental health touches everything, how kids grow, how relationships hold together, how a family feels day to day. Is your child struggling with things that didn't used to be a problem? Are you and your partner stuck in the same fight, night after night? Or are you just trying to hold it together yourself? Healing often happens in connection, not alone, and that's where we come in. At Island Park Therapy, we work with individuals, couples and families, including what happens when grief or trauma enters the picture, and offer neuroaffirming care for ADHD and autism.

You might be someone who is used to being the “strong one,” constantly putting others first, or holding yourself to incredibly high expectations. Even when things seem okay on the outside, you may find yourself overthinking, feeling emotionally drained, or struggling to prioritize your own needs without guilt.
Maybe you’re tired of overthinking every conversation, worrying about disappointing people, or feeling like you’re never doing enough.
I tend to work with adolescents and adults who may feel overwhelmed by anxiety, perfectionism, people-pleasing, or self-doubt.

Have you ever felt like you do not belong, that you are gravely misunderstood? What about striving for perfection in all aspects of your life? Or constantly feeling like a stranger in your own body? Does any of this sound familiar to you? I can assure you that you are not alone in these struggles. We might try to put on a brave face for the world; however, cracks begin forming in our façade, and self-doubt creeps in and eats away at our sense of self. I am here to normalize these feelings and empower you to become the best version of yourself, whatever that might look like. You are allowed to take up space in your own healing.

We all experience fear, angst and distress. A cure for mental illness isn't in my reach. I can help you develop behavioural strategies to become comfortable feeling these emotions. And remember, the journey itself is the reason we grow. My professional and personal goal is to guide you to see the courage that you already possess.

Happily accepting new clients- Sunday availability. Do you feel on edge often?— anxious, overwhelmed, and quicker to anger than you want to be? Maybe the smallest things set you off, you’re snapping at your partner or kids, and then you’re left feeling guilty or ashamed afterward. You might lie awake replaying conversations, overthinking everything, and wondering why you can’t just feel calmer. If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone — and it doesn’t mean you’re a bad partner or parent. It usually means you’re carrying too much for too long without enough support.
