You have always been the good daughter, the good son, the one who keeps everyone happy. You say yes when you mean no, carry guilt for wanting a life of your own, and make yourself smaller to meet what your family and culture expect. As a newcomer you may be doing all of this while straddling two worlds, translating not just words but whole ways of living. Underneath the people-pleasing is real exhaustion, shaky boundaries, and a quiet doubt about who you are when you are not meeting everyone else's needs. Here you can set that weight down for a while, and be understood without having to explain the culture first.

The people I often work with are struggling with the feeling that they don't belong anywhere - whether that be with friends, family or at school, or work. They feel like they aren't 'good enough,' to be in the spaces or roles that they are in. Some find their relationships complicated - with friends, family, or romantic partners - where people don’t understand their values and what they want. You deserve to be heard, you deserve to live life on your terms with your values, and you deserve to space to belong.

Food and your body can start to feel like a full-time job. Maybe your days are shaped by rules and rituals around eating, by the pull to restrict, or by binge-and-shame cycles that leave you exhausted and alone. Maybe the mirror has become an enemy, or the number on a scale can set the tone for your whole day. Whatever it looks like, the constant noise around food and body takes up space that should belong to your actual life.

Updated Aug 2026: Are you between 18-30, highly sensitive, child of immigrant parents, who is doing all the things you're "supposed to" do, but feel like it's never good enough? No matter how hard you try, the people closest to you are never satisfied. The pressure is insane, and you're so incredibly exhausted. You wonder if there's something wrong with you, or maybe this is depression? Is this amount of anxiety normal? You feel like you can't even talk about it - the stigma is so real, but you just know that those closest to you wouldn't understand and might even make it worse. And - you feel guilty even thinking that way. Sigh.

You've noticed something feels different lately. A part of you may be starting to question patterns like saying yes when you want to say no, putting others first, or feeling responsible for keeping the peace. You might feel anxious, overwhelmed and unsure how to make sense of it all.
I work with adults who feel pulled in different directions internally and want to better understand themselves. Together, we can explore what’s happening beneath the surface - both inward (your emotional patterns and inner world) and outward (relationships, family, and cultural context).

Integrating Psychodynamic, CBT, ACT, Somatic, Mindfulness, and Trauma-informed approaches, I help you understand patterns regulate emotions, and feel more grounded, clear, connected, and emotionally steady in daily life and relations.
Have you noticed yourself getting stuck in the same patterns despite wanting something different? Perhaps you overthink, shut down, become defensive or highly self-reliant, or lose yourself in relationships. These protective strategies often develop for good reasons, yet over time, they can leave us feeling burned out, overly anxious and overwhelmed, and disconnected from ourselves and those we love. Many of my clients, individuals or couples, find themselves balancing competing values, family expectations, cultural identities, and differing ideas about relationships and belonging.

With couples I lean on emotionally focused and attachment-based work to help you see the cycle you get stuck in, plus CBT and solution-focused tools to break it, and somatic, narrative, and mindfulness work to help you respond instead of react.
Maybe you're getting married and want to build something that lasts instead of repeating old patterns. Or you've been together for years and keep circling the same fight, feeling more like roommates than partners. Or you're blending two families and home feels like a daily negotiation over discipline, loyalty, and whose way is right, with the kids caught in the middle. You love each other, but the words keep coming out wrong and the distance grows. You don't have to keep guessing what your partner needs or bracing for the next blow-up. Wherever you are, couples work can help you hear each other and feel like a team again.

How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.
Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.
Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.
What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
