At GRO, we see you - the Black woman tired of being strong and second-guessing yourself, whether it’s in love or in motherhood. Maybe it’s the gaslighting, manipulation, or feeling unseen in your relationship. Maybe it’s postpartum, burnout, or the weight of always showing up for everyone but yourself. Either way, you don’t have to explain every detail to be understood. We offer culturally affirming therapy for Black women ready to heal, grow, and feel like themselves again—with peace, clarity, and confidence.

Maybe you are overwhelmed by the constant needs, carrying guilt after hard parenting moments, or wondering why you feel so irritable, touched out, or worn thin.
I support mothers navigating parenting stress, shame, self-worth, and family overwhelm. Many of the women I work with love their families deeply, but feel stretched past their limit and unsure how to keep showing up without losing themselves. I also understand how complicated it can feel to support a child who needs more from you.

It is an honour and privilege to be your companion in this sojourn, where I diligently strive to support you in realizing your fullest potential and finding joy through building resilient and meaningful relationships. For me, the profession of psychotherapy is simply an organic extension of my values and lived experiences and my strong belief in the principle of ‘paying it forward’.

My heartfelt wish is to create healing spaces where people can grow, to increase joy and connection in their lives. I don't believe therapy has to be hard work. For me, good therapy has felt like a weight lifting from my shoulders, sometimes slowly, but still lifting. Yes, it might feel a little uncomfortable at times, and my goal is to keep the discomfort of growth manageable enough to support forward progress. I'm humbled by my work because it allows me to see the common humanity in all of our struggles.

What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
