Men
that come to see me usually stuck, feeling paralyzed, stressed, anxious, depressed or directionless. You may question whether you are a good son, father, or partner. Perhaps you are struggling with depression, anxiety, addiction, grief, trauma, or just feeling disconnected from yourself and with others. Reaching out to a qualified therapist means taking the "first step". Many
men
try to solve their challenges on their own, with limited or short-term success. It doesn't have to be this way, and my role is to help you see things in different ways and from a different perspective. You are not alone - call, email, or visit our site.

I am a dedicated social worker and therapist who specializes in the mental and emotional health of racialized communities, and has expertise working with Black African Diaspora boys and

I have a strong commitment to helping people heal through trauma, including African and Indigenous-centered understandings of healing and people of colour whose mental health has been greatly harmed by the effects of colonialism and subsequent marginalization, war, violence and poverty. I help clients heal the mind, an entity that can be so easily damaged by distressing experiences, while fostering an interconnection between mind, body and soul.

Growing up in a culture that makes it hard to open up about struggles at the risk of being judged, especially as a

, I understand that a lot of people can dismiss the ways in which therapy can empower us to take control of and find new meaning in our lives. At the same time, I have also seen many people become dependent on therapy, and reliant on “experts” to tell them how to live. My success as a healer depends on helping you achieve your goals in the fastest time possible so you don’t waste your time and money. “Fire” me ASAP.

The world is desperately crying out for strong
men
to step up as leaders.
You’re the Black Sheep of the family, who doesn’t fit in anywhere and struggles with loneliness: The Outsider. You are talented and intelligent with ambitious business and/or creative dreams; but due to procrastination fueled by self-sabotage, like addictions (e.g., cannabis, pornography, video games), you continually fail to achieve goals. You negatively compare yourself to others, find it difficult to overcome mistakes, feel like a failure, and wish you had the confidence to fulfill your true potential because you are meant for more than the mediocrity that most people settle for. Welcome, it's time to awaken the warrior within!

After studying clinical psychology in Europe, I worked for more than two decades in a city hospital. A variety of clients and their complaints led me to adopt a broad approach in searching for the best evidence-based therapeutic practices and techniques that suit clients' needs and preferences. I mostly worked with adults struggling with anxiety and phobias, depression, trauma, obsessive-compulsive disorder, sexual dysfunctions, relational issues and with refugees and soldiers with PTSD, helping them to overcome their problems, improve their quality of life, and continue with their personal growth and designing their lives.

I am a Registered Gestalt Psychotherapist (RP) . Gestalt is the German word for "whole." I work with each of my clients as a whole-being (mind, body and soul) using a self-directed, in-the-moment approach to psychotherapy (in many cases fewer sessions are necessary). I help my clients through guided dialogue, observation and intuition in order for them become aware of their behaviors that are keeping them stuck in negative patterns. The best client / therapist sessions happen when my clients are willing to do their personal work. It is life changing!

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?
There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.
How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?
Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client. Prospective clients should also ask what the expectation is for treatment, and what the fee structure is, and whether and which insurance plans are accepted.
Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with a male therapist. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges, in the case of male clients. Some women have prior negative experiences with women that predispose them to prefer working with a male in therapy. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.
Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?
Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
