Life is a journey: it has a beginning; it has an end. The journey between these two points can take us on many different paths. The path we travel is uniquely our own. No other person encounters the world quite the way we do. The most important aspect of our lives is the journey within, one which is often overlooked until a time of crisis and deep, personal pain, or when one is driven by personal circumstances to become introspective and evaluate their lives.

Stress, fear, anxious thoughts, lack of motivation, sadness and/or anger seem to plague your life. Perhaps you're feeling confused, insecure or are grieving a
loss
. Maybe your relationships seem to constantly involve pain and frustration, you're reliving a traumatic event or you continue to engage in habits and patterns you find self-harming. You simply want to feel peaceful, joyful and confident. You desire to no longer worry or make decisions from feelings of pressure or fear. You don't want to keep getting hurt. Maybe you want to change your circumstances, feel understood and happy for once.

I also pull a lot from lived experience – especially, when working with my clients who are struggling with
grief
, cancer diagnosis, and supporting loved ones through difficult transitions.
Welcome! Let me start out by telling you what I tell all my potential clients: Therapy is such an individual process and so much of it has to do with finding the right therapist. Many of us have similar training and areas of expertise but we all differ in personality. I want to use this space here to give you an idea of my vibe and approach. I’m a little quirky with a gentle approach and strong ability to challenge you and explore with you. I can sit with you in heavy spaces, difficult feelings, and complex thoughts.

I draw on both my professional experiences (supporting clients with experiences of
grief
, trauma, intergenerational trauma, and marginalization), and my personal lived experiences (as a brown, queer, neurodivergent, second generation immigrant).
We all come from vastly unique life experiences and identities, and there is no “one size fits all” way to heal and grow. I take an eclectic approach to therapy that is guided by my clients' individual needs. My practice is influenced by relational, narrative, experiential, and existential modalities, which I have a keen interest in integrating with creative and somatic techniques. I strive to create a therapeutic environment that values warmth, curiosity, and collaboration. I work through the lens of an intersectional feminist, anti-oppressive, and trauma-informed framework that centers you as the expert of your own experiences.

Grief Counsellors
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
