Congratulations, you have taken the first step towards healing! Recognizing that you need support on this path of healing is the first of many milestones. When situations occur in our lives, whether in the past or present, naturally as human beings we begin to feel depressed, anxious, isolated, and etc. Simple day-to-day activities, which were once like second nature, have become very difficult. Perhaps days, months or even years have gone by and you still feel “stuck” – if this sounds familiar, we can work together to learn how to cope and live with a new reality.

My clinical experience is supporting people challenged with eating disorders and disordered eating, anxiety, depression, interpersonal conflicts, low self-esteem, relationships, stress, bereavement, and grief.
I recognize and respect the trust and vulnerability you bring to each session. I am dedicated to providing a safe environment for you to express yourself, develop, and heal. I truly believe that you are your own expert, and it is a privilege to be able to journey with you in uncovering and addressing the challenges, changes, and dynamics that need attention in your life. The client-therapist relationship, in my opinion, is one of the areas where the greatest changes occur.

In addition to my Spiritual Psychotherapy training, I am also a craniosacral therapist and have additional training in Grief work.
Collectively, we have just experienced some of the most challenging times of our lives, and continuing. My framework is holistic in nature and offered virtually at this time. My focus has shifted to include techniques such as Emotional Freedom Tapping, body awareness modalities, breathing techniques, talk therapy, visualization, and other creative coping tools that can be self applied outside of session safely. These tools can be used to help manage de-regulation, nervous system overload, to gain clarity, and to act as a more gentle introductory towards the path of healing especially for those that have never sought therapy before.

Life stressors leave us feeling disoriented, hopeless and disconnected from ourselves and others. You’re someone who deeply desires to feel safe and connected with yourself and others, but still find yourself ruled by trauma, feeling out of control of your emotions and reactions and feeling shame that you can’t “get it together.” You have an idea of how you want to show up in your relationships and life, but have no idea how to get there. But you’re ready to make a change. You’re ready to no longer give trauma the final say. You’re ready to feel grounded and safer and have the relationships, job, and connections you desire.

I also pull a lot from lived experience – especially, when working with my clients who are struggling with grief, cancer diagnosis, and supporting loved ones through difficult transitions.
Welcome! Let me start out by telling you what I tell all my potential clients: Therapy is such an individual process and so much of it has to do with finding the right therapist. Many of us have similar training and areas of expertise but we all differ in personality. I want to use this space here to give you an idea of my vibe and approach. I’m a little quirky with a gentle approach and strong ability to challenge you and explore with you. I can sit with you in heavy spaces, difficult feelings, and complex thoughts.

Grief Counsellors

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
