I use an attachment-based, experiential, holistic approach to create the ideal treatment plan for your unique needs.
Emotion can be fast and overwhelming. To slow the process down, I use Emotionally Focused Couples & Individual Therapy, integrated with other modalities as we work together to repair the pain and hurt from the inside out. When dealing with traumatic memories stuck in the body, I use EMDR to access and process them and bring them to an adaptive resolution.

Through attachment-based therapy, CBT, and EFT, we will explore the roots of your challenges and cultivate new ways of thinking, feeling, and relating to yourself and others.
As we move through life, we come across experiences/challenges that may bring up old patterns and feelings. Sometimes old patterns can get in the way of us living up to our full potential. Sometimes our emotions feel too overwhelming to understand and process what is happening in our lives. As a therapist, I strive to create a safe and collaborative space where you can be seen, heard, and witnessed, allowing you to unpack your lived experiences free of judgment. Through our work together we will explore what has been working well for you and where you would like to see growth and re-alignment with your true self.

My approach is client-centered, blending evidence-based strategies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma specific and attachment-based methods to empower you to make meaningful changes.
I believe you are already holding the keys to experience and embrace the inner wholeness you deserve. There are many opportunities for us to be hurt in life and in relationships. The problem is that we can carry these emotional wounds and even physical scars for a long time and spend our energy trying to conceal them. However, if you have come this far I believe you want more than this. It’s your time to discover the healing you deserve. It’s time to give yourself permission to journey towards wholeness and to live your life with clarity and a new sense of purpose.

I am a Registered Social Worker with a passion for learning how our attachments and relationships with others, our relationships with ourselves, and how we relate to the world around us affect our sense of balance and wellness. This is often the root cause of anxiety, which current somatic and relational approaches to therapy recognize as a natural nervous system response to anything that upsets that sense of safety. My clients are often seeking support for complex trauma, parenting, birth, or reproductive challenges/trauma, grief, caregiver stress/burnout, or relationship challenges.

Attachment-based Counsellors

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
