I have a lot of experience working with those who are neurodivergent, such as those with Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD.
I approach therapy from an eclectic approach, drawing from several theoretical orientations and approaches to best fit the needs of each client. I use a trauma-informed lens to best support the needs of a wide variety of individuals. I recognize the importance of a past and present approach, exploring the past and how it affects the present, and the importance of adaptations made by them throughout development. I believe that each client is the expert in their own lives, thus they take the role as a passenger and GPS, guiding when necessary, listening and being present always.

Sometimes we can feel disconnected to both others and even ourselves.. Our true self. It's not always easy to recognize this and it's definitely not easy to reach out for support, but here you are! I’m passionate about helping others build meaningful, healthy connections. To feel more connected to yourself, your loved ones, your purpose and your values. When we can move towards more clarity and insight to what that is, we can create a life that feels authentic. When we learn what that is, even when we are faced with the inevitable ups and downs of life, we can feel more inner trust to handle it. Does that sound like your goal?

Do you struggle with feeling disconnected from yourself and others? Does your hopes and dreams seem so far from being able to be achieved? Perhaps just getting through the day has been a challenge for you lately. More than ever, people feel anxious, overwhelmed and uncertain about their tomorrow. As we go through life, we experience breakups, hardships, sickness, failure, and loneliness. My journey started with being born and raised in Australia where everything is said to be, “She’ll be right mate!”. We all know this is not the case.

I utilize a person-centred approach that provides clients with a safe space to achieve self awareness and understanding. Clients drive the discussion and objective of each session and set goals that are achievable and relevant to their lives. I help clients identify and enhance their individualized strengths and skills that they can then apply to potential future stressors. One of my top priorities is creating a space where clients feel like they can be their authentic selves without judgement. Through the establishment of a meaningful and trusting relationship I can help enable my clients to work through their presenting concerns.

I welcome clients looking for support related to ADHD/neurodivergence (including management, identity, masking, and burnout), anxiety, grief/loss, LGBTQ+ identity, pregnancy, parenting, relationships (dating, partnership, ethical nonmonogamy, separation), and other life transitions.
My eclectic person-centred style draws on Attachment and Polyvagal Theories, Nonviolent Communication (NVC), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I find that therapeutic shifts benefit from somatic work, so I use Embodied Self-Awareness, too.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.
How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.
Are there specific medications for ADHD?
Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.
How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
