I use IFS and EMDR to work with your nervous system, helping you process the chronic stress and trauma that live beneath the surface.
When your body says "no" but you keep saying "yes," ...anxiety, burnout, overwhelmed, panic attacks, people-pleasing, or constantly putting others first, show up. I offer a space where we untangle that stress, that panic, the ignoring yourself, the guilt, the grief. Together we work on those pieces, those old memories, so you can feel worthy, safe and enough.

I believe you are already holding the keys to experience and embrace the inner wholeness you deserve. There are many opportunities for us to be hurt in life and in relationships. The problem is that we can carry these emotional wounds and even physical scars for a long time and spend our energy trying to conceal them. However, if you have come this far I believe you want more than this. It’s your time to discover the healing you deserve. It’s time to give yourself permission to journey towards wholeness and to live your life with clarity and a new sense of purpose.

I have worked with individuals, couples and families dealing with mental health, addictions and trauma related issues for close to 25 years.
You don't have to carry this alone. Maybe you look like you're coping on the outside-functioning, responsible, capable-but inside you feel exhausted, disconnected, or overwhelmed. Perhaps you're in a season of life that feels confusing or heavy. Menopause, relationship strain, caregiving, burnout, or a quiet sense that something needs to change.

My work experience in the non-profit sector has found me working with those struggling with mental health challenges (general anxiety/panic, depression, OCD, agoraphobia, trauma), addiction, chronic illness/pain, relationship issues and domestic abuse.
My work is grounded in critical and feminist theories. All too often our emotional and social challenges are treated as problems that lie completely within us, when really we are simply reacting to the world in which we live. Part of your work with me will involve looking at how your troubles developed to give you insight into how to resolve those issues.

Yes, we will work on processing your trauma - and we will also move forward.
You're a woman between 39-50ish and something just feels OFF. It's definitely physical: the hot flashes, waking up in the night, can't remember anything, the weight gain, but it's also emotional: the mood swings, irritability, the burnout, the lack of motivation, the sense of just not feeling like yourself. You wonder if you're just "getting old", or maybe your hormones are out of whack? You are doing ALL the right things. You exercise, you eat clean, you have good relationships, a career, and just when you're starting to feel like you've got it figured out, the rollercoaster of emotions hits you. It's so incredibly frustrating

Trauma and PTSD Counsellors
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
