While our practice includes therapists who work with children and teens, my work focuses on adults — especially women navigating seasons of change.
I work with women experiencing anxiety, depression, self-esteem and self-worth concerns, infertility, pregnancy after loss, and the emotional weight of the perinatal period. I also support women navigating perimenopause and menopause, parenting shifts, relationship dissatisfaction, separation, and divorce.

You’ve been trying to keep it all together, but underneath the surface, you’re feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or just plain exhausted. Maybe anxiety shows up as racing thoughts or constant overthinking. Maybe low mood is making everyday things feel harder than they should. Or relationships—whether family, friends, or partners—just feel more complicated lately. It’s hard to feel like yourself when things don’t seem to be working, and you’re not sure what to try next. That is where I come in.

You’re smart, intuitive, and self-aware, but stuck in a painful relationship cycle. Maybe you're attracted to all the wrong people, overlooking red flags that point to toxic behaviour or narcissism. Or maybe it's more of a cycle of defensiveness, invalidation, and hours long text message arguments that never get resolved. You wonder if you're crazy, or if they're just gaslighting you. You wonder if it's all your fault, frantically reading self-help books and binging podcasts and tiktoks looking for the answers. You're in fight-or-flight, walking on eggshells trying to finally "get it right" so you can finally relax.

Do you feel stuck in patterns you can't explain - overthinking, emotionally overwhelmed, or reacting in ways that don't match who you want to be ? Even if you have tried therapy before, something may still feel unresolved. That's where deeper, trauma-focused work can make a difference. I am a registered psychotherapist ( qualifying) specializing in trauma, anxiety, ADHD, and cultural or intergenerational experiences. I help clients understand why they feel the way they do, not just manage symptoms, but actually process and shift them.

I specialize in the assessment and treatment of anxiety / phobias, low mood / depression, OCD, repetitive behaviour disorders (e.g., tics, Tourette Syndrome, hair-pulling and skin-picking), misoophonia, ADHD, and challenging behaviours / emotion regulation challenges, among many other things, in children, adolescents, and adults.
Hi, I’m Heather Senst, a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) working under the supervision of Dr. Kim Edwards, C.Psych, at MindFit—a leading psychology clinic (or, as we like to call it, a “mental health gym”). Just like a traditional gym, MindFit is designed to be welcoming and accessible for anyone looking to build emotional strength and resilience. Before becoming a therapist, I was a Vice President and Creative Head at a major media company. I decided to change paths after supporting a close family member through mental health challenges—an experience that deeply shaped my passion for this work.

You might be carrying a heaviness that feels hard to explain, whether it's deep sadness, anxiety that won’t let up, or grief that others expect you to “get over.” Maybe you've had thoughts you're scared to share, or you're simply trying to make it through each day. You don’t have to face this alone. I offer a safe, compassionate space where we can explore what’s weighing on you and begin to untangle the pain, so you can feel more supported, understood, and able to breathe again.

FAQ - About Child Therapy
When does a child need to see a therapist?
Children naturally experience emotional ups and downs. Sometimes, though, they need support from a professional. A child may benefit from therapy if their emotions or behaviours change significantly within a short period of time. For example, if a child usually spends time with friends after school but begins isolating in their room, further inquiry is warranted. Other areas for concern include altered sleep patterns, lack of appetite, intense anger, irritability, or hopelessness, or developmental regression in young children (bedwetting, thumb-sucking).

What can a child therapist help with?
A therapist can help with any difficult experience a child may encounter growing up, including learning problems or anxiety related to school, relationship challenges with friends or parents, bullying, intense emotions or phobias, divorce and family dynamics, or the death of a pet or loved one. A therapist can help children process their experience and develop coping skills in an age-appropriate way

What therapy types are most suitable for children?
Children can benefit from different forms of therapy, including family therapy, parent-child interaction therapy, play therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, and exposure therapy, depending on their condition. Play therapy is a great option for younger children who may not be able to fully articulate their feelings. In this approach, kids play with toys and games while a therapist observes and helps the child express their emotions and develop coping skills.

Do I need to attend therapy with my child?
Parents are an integral part of a child’s therapy, but the specifics of their involvement vary. If your child is young, you may attend most or all sessions; if your child is older, you may attend a few sessions or none; sometimes a therapist may ask you to have a session on your own. Whatever the arrangement, you should expect to work collaboratively with the therapist, your child, and your family members to take steps to help support your child.

How can I tell if a therapist is a good fit for my child?
A child needs to feel comfortable opening up about their thoughts and feelings, so if your child feels a sense of comfort, ease, and trust with their therapist, that’s a great sign. In addition, a therapist is a good fit for your child if the two can communicate well together; a clinician should be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and in an age-appropriate manner.
