I draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), psychodynamic therapy, and mindfulness-based approaches while tailoring treatment to your unique experiences, goals, and strengths.
From the outside, it may look like you're managing. You show up for work or school, meet your responsibilities, and keep going, but inside your mind rarely slows down. You replay conversations, question your decisions, worry about making mistakes, or feel exhausted trying to hold everything together. Whether you're navigating anxiety, OCD, intrusive thoughts, perfectionism, burnout, depression, or the emotional impact of living with a chronic health condition, therapy can provide a space to feel understood, make sense of what you're carrying, and create meaningful change.

Are you someone who is currently experiencing inner turmoil, conflict, or is all too familiar with your inner-critic? You're a deep thinker, reflector, and you haven't been feeling like yourself. If these words resonate you've landed in the right place. Being a human means experiencing hardships at times, and the question that guides my approach to therapy as we navigate these times together is: "Who do you want to be towards yourself during the difficult moments?" Through radical self-compassion and acceptance, there is hope to create positive change in your life.

You may look capable and high-functioning on the outside while internally feeling lost, emotionally exhausted, hypervigilant, disconnected from yourself, uncertain about your relationships, or overwhelmed by change. Many of the people I work with are navigating periods of deep transition or chronic tension: grief and loss, burnout, relationship changes, identity shifts, existential questioning, emotional overwhelm or dysregulation, shutdown, attachment wounding, trauma symptoms, or the quiet realization that the life they built no longer feels sustainable or full alive.

Sometimes, the things that have happened in our past can affect our daily lives significantly. Trauma can make people feel as if their past defines who they are and that it will always have a grip on them. Although traumatic events can cause lasting effects, there are ways to regain control over your life if you have experienced trauma . As an EMDR and IFS clinician, I use an evidence-based approach to help you become 'unstuck'. Seeking trauma therapy requires immense courage. I understand how difficult it can be to discuss trauma, which is why I provide a calm, non-judgemental space for you to begin the healing process.

I draw from person-centred, psychodynamic, and CBT approaches within a trauma-informed lens, informed by IFS.
I work with people of all ages, with particular experience supporting teens and young adults. Together we work through anxiety, identity, grief, trauma, life transitions, and the quieter but equally exhausting work of understanding yourself and what you need. My background includes 14 years in education as a resource teacher supporting students with learning and mental health needs, and as a mental health support worker with Indigenous communities in Northern Ontario. I know what it means to meet people where they actually are. I offer sessions in both English and French.

NO WAIT-LIST! ADHD, Addiction, Anxiety/Depression, LGBTQ2S+, Relationships- You feel like you're constantly playing catch-up, struggling to focus, follow through, or find motivation. ADHD, anxiety, or addiction can make it hard to keep up with daily life, and relationship conflicts can leave you feeling disconnected or misunderstood. If you're navigating life as a Queer person, it can also bring an added layer of stress, self-doubt, or isolation. When the overwhelm builds, it can feel like your mind and emotions are working against you, making it even harder to cope, function and feel in control of your daily life.

I support adults in Barrie and across Ontario with a key focus on men’s mental health and men’s issues. Many clients come to therapy feeling anxious, irritable, disconnected, burned out, low, grieving, self-critical, or unsure how to manage relationship stress, family conflict, neurodiversity, loneliness, or major life changes. I also work with older adults navigating later-life transitions and clients with ADHD, autism, OCD, epilepsy, BPD-related concerns, and emotion-regulation challenges. I bring a grounded, human approach shaped by both clinical training and an understanding of how hard it can be to ask for support at first too.

Psychodynamic Counsellors
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
