We all have times when we feel weighed down by our thoughts and feelings and this can often keep us from connecting with others or creating boundaries that we know are important. You might feel like you are stuck, but there is hope and you are not alone. In our work together, you will learn strategies to change the relationship you have with your thoughts and feelings. I use a non-judgmental and supportive approach to highlight your existing strengths and support you along your healing journey.

Maybe it started with one or two disturbing intrusive thoughts, images, or a nagging feeling that something wasn’t right. To find relief, you did certain behaviours or mental rituals that seemed to help at first. But now it feels like you’re stuck in a loop - the thoughts keep coming back, the compulsions follow, and it’s exhausting. If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone. OCD affects 1–2% of the population, and many people quietly struggle with intrusive thoughts and compulsions every day.

Living with OCD can feel overwhelming, and for parents, watching your child struggle can be heartbreaking.
Living with OCD can feel like being trapped in an exhausting cycle of worry, doubt, and fear. Obsessions are like horror stories your brain creates in an attempt to keep you safe. When the thoughts take over, it’s a natural reaction to try to get rid of them. However, by doing so, it sends a message to your brain: “This must be important! Send more!” In therapy, we practice breaking this cycle so you can start living life on your terms, not OCD’s. I work with individuals and families as they navigate the challenges of OCD and take meaningful steps toward recovery, every day.

You’ve noticed your child’s behaviour has changed recently and it concerns you. You want to support them in this fast-paced and competitive world, but you’re not sure how. You want to understand them, but it feels you’re hitting a wall whenever you try to reach them. And you’re getting tired of trying. For children and youth, growing up involves changes that impact their well-being and their self-esteem. With attentive and empathetic support, their ability to cope with these changes can bring them confidence. But without the right support, they can internalize ideas about themselves and their relationships that cause them pain.

With experience in mental health since 2018 and social work since 2006 I support children, teens and adults with anxiety, low mood, addictions, trauma, relationship challenges and parenting stress.
Life can be challenging, but it is also full of moments where strength, clarity, and connection can grow. Whether you're a child, teen, or adult, you may face times when anxiety, low mood, stress, past or current experiences make daily life feel heavier than it should. Yet even in those moments, the possibility for change remains, often closer than it seems.

I love working with children, youth, and adults through individual therapy, parent consultation, and family therapy.
The trauma informed model I use is highly effective in accessing the roots of trauma through resourcing your body, without re-traumatization. The family therapy models I use are kind, nonjudgemental, and inclusive. I believe in the power of expressive tools to help kids and teens be themselves, and love who they are. I also offer additional healing services.

What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
