I work with people who carry a lot on their shoulders—juggling responsibilities, providing for others, and supporting loved ones, often at the expense of their own well-being. You’re likely high-achieving and resilient, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy. If you’re feeling burnt out, overwhelmed, or isolated, I’m here to help. Together, we’ll focus on reconnecting your mind and body, finding a balance, and working toward your goals to help you feel more grounded, supported, and at ease.

Here’s what I do to facilitate self growth. I integrate key therapeutic principles drawing on a wide range of psychodynamic, CBT/DBT, Relational and other evidence based modalities, in which I invite you to sit down and/or ZOOM with me in a relaxed, safe, informal way, and talk. It can be hard to believe that "just talking" can be helpful. But if you’re depressed, anxious and dealing with the impacts and effects of traumatic stress, you can be profoundly healed by an in-depth conversation in which you come to create greater self-understanding, discover insights and meanings, recognize patterns, and explore options and skills.

My ideal client feels overwhelmed, stuck, and unsure how to move forward. They might struggle with anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, or challenges in their relationships or career. Many are people facing societal pressures to appear strong while feeling disconnected or unsure how to express vulnerability. They seek relief, clarity, and practical tools to navigate life’s challenges. Their ultimate goal is to feel confident, grounded, and capable of building a life that aligns with their values and aspirations.

For some people, counselling can be scary - sitting across from a stranger, not knowing what to expect, and not entirely sure if they want to share their story. I get it. That was my experience when I first saw a therapist years ago. But what I quickly learned is that counselling is simply a conversation between two people who are mutually devoted to achieving a common goal. And as a therapist, it is my desire to give you a safe place to have that conversation, to hear your thoughts and emotions, to understand your story, and then to journey with you toward a place of mental, emotional and spiritual wellness.

Opening up is difficult. Often we're told to deal with it, or that things will get better. Maybe you’re going through a transition, feeling overwhelmed, tired, or stuck. Maybe you’ve been feeling an emotion you’ve been told you’re not supposed to feel. Navigating these conflicting thoughts and feelings can be a lot to manage, but you do not have to manage them alone. Maybe you feel like your problems are too big or too small. Maybe you feel like something is just a passing thought and is not worth bringing up. When working with me, nothing is off the table – if it’s important to you, then it is important to me.

Stuck? Lost? Broken? Disconnected? Powerless? Hopeless? Many men wait too long to seek help for the challenges they face. You may not feel safe talking with others, particularly if you have experienced trauma, abuse, anxiety, addition, grief, or shame. Often, even those they are closest to you may understand or know the depth of your pain. You may feel that you are burdening others with your problems, and may have tried to solve your issues on your own, often leading deeper struggles and, at times, greater loss and pain. While certainly open to journeying with any and all who may arrive at my door, I have a passion for helping create marriages & relationships that are enjoyed rather than endured; I love to help folks navigate the complexities of life's trauma(s), whether PTSD or otherwise; especially for those having dedicated their own lives to serving others (Military, First Responders, Medical Personnel, Pastors, Therapists, etc.); and I also hold a strong desire to help men overcome the various apprehensions they tend to experience around the notions of emotion and their own reaching out for help.

Is therapy for men different than it is for women?

Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.

How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can men prepare for therapy?

Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.

What should men know about the process of therapy?

One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
