Throughout life's stages of growth and change, we experience times when we thrive and times when challenges arise. I provide psychological assessment and therapy for children, teens and adults who may be facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, or issues of self-worth. I also support clients and families navigating transitions or seeking clarity about learning, attention or social-emotional needs. Whether the goal is to better understand a diagnosis, explore strategies for coping, or create a plan for growth, I work collaboratively with clients and families to build trust, highlight strengths, and support meaningful change.

It is hard to open up to new people. I work with children and teens who need to feel heard and understood. I use lots of strategies to build safety and connection with them, like creative activities and games.

Are you or your child looking for therapy that actually works with your brain instead of against it? Are you trapped in your head and overwhelmed by big emotions, Drama therapy could be a good fit for you. Navigating school, friendships, or independence, therapy can help you build confidence, manage emotions, and feel more at ease being yourself. Currently, struggling with shutdowns, communication, or feeling disconnected from yourself, therapy can help you build confidence, manage energy, and feel calmer in the present moment. I work well with those who often feel misunderstood or judged.

If you grew up with an emotionally immature or unavailable parent, you may be carrying wounds that no one has ever acknowledged. You may find yourself avoiding conflict, constantly walking on eggshells, feeling overly responsible for others’ emotions, or having difficulty trusting your own. Maybe you’ve always wondered why your needs felt like “too much” or why the idea of setting a boundary brings up guilt, anxiety, or silence. Even now, interactions with your parent might leave you feeling unseen, dismissed, or emotionally drained.

You don’t need to have everything figured out to start therapy. My ideal client is someone who feels overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure where to begin, even if things appear okay on the outside. They may be navigating anxiety, low mood, low motivation, social stress, or a life transition. They’re looking for a supportive, non-judgmental space to talk things through, build coping tools, and better understand themselves so they can feel more grounded, confident, and steady in daily life and relationships.

You're fed up and frustrated. No matter how hard you try you feel like you're just not good enough. You may find yourself saying “yes” when you want to say “no,” replaying interactions in your mind, or feeling like you’re constantly managing how others feel. You get angry quickly, can't control your emotions and have been called "oversensitive." You care a lot about other people, you try your best all the time, but you are left feeling overwhelmed, alone, and exhausted. If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone and these patterns are more common than you might think.

All children are so very unique and constantly changing. Sometimes they need a helping hand to keep them moving along to thrive in their relationships and connections with others; or to develop strategies to support emotional regulation, social skills, life skills, anxiety reduction, concentration and focus, or processing of traumatic events. Throughout the process, parent/caregiver participation is a key component when it comes to working with children. My long-standing experience with neurodivergent children, youth, and their families will provide you with the reassurance you need to move forward.

How effective is treatment for learning disabilities?
When initiated early and tailored to a child’s specific needs, learning disability treatment can be quite effective at helping a child cope with their disability, though its exact efficacy may depend on the severity of symptoms and whether comorbid disorders exist. Less is known about treatment initiated in adulthood, but it is certainly possible that an adult with a learning disability will see some improvement—or at the very least, identify workarounds and accommodations that could make symptoms less burdensome in day-to-day life.

When should someone seek treatment for learning disabilities?
It’s best to seek treatment as early as possible. Because learning disabilities often go unnoticed until a child starts school, or even until they’re a few years along, regular check-ins with teachers and doctors can help parents determine whether children are meeting milestones and keeping up with peers or whether an evaluation for learning disabilities may be warranted. And although earlier is always better, it’s never too late to be evaluated for learning disabilities and to seek treatment.

What happens if learning disabilities are left untreated?
Undiagnosed and untreated learning disabilities can be a source of significant frustration and shame for a child, who may feel that their challenges stem from a lack of intelligence or willpower. Such feelings can trigger low self-esteem, depression, or anxiety, which may push a child toward risky behaviors, including substance use. In adulthood, untreated learning disabilities can interfere with career success, and lingering feelings of self-doubt and shame can negatively affect someone’s mental health.

Are there medications for learning disabilities?
Currently, there are no medications designed to treat specific learning disabilities such as dysgraphia or dyscalculia. However, someone with a learning disability may be prescribed medication for a comorbid condition, such as anxiety, depression, or ADHD, which may have positive downstream effects on their learning disability; for example, a child with both ADHD and dyslexia may find that they’re better able to focus on their reading exercises after being prescribed a stimulant medication.
