Do you feel like you're doing all of the "right things" in life, yet still sense you're missing something and feeling unfulfilled? Perhaps the things you used to look forward to and enjoy now bring anxiety, stress and dread. You may think you’re not "good enough", often worrying about what others think and feeling a loss of identity in who you are, what you like and what really matters to you. As women, we often help everyone else, while our needs get pushed and further back. I help women reconnect with themselves through self-compassion and curiosity to reduce stress, build confidence and feel that little spark of excitement again.

I help people who long for healing and change but who are afraid nothing can help them. Does it feel like you are just barely keeping your own head above water while doing all you can to care for others? Are you dealing with the fallout of having been betrayed or violated by an important person or institution in your life? Experiences like this can leave you feeling overwhelmed and questioning everything you thought you knew about yourself and the world. I also support people who are working through grief, trauma, anxiety, ADHD, and so much more. Individuals and couples of all genders, orientations, and ability are warmly welcomed.

When life doesn’t seem to be going according to plan we can be left feeling isolated, overwhelmed, and unsure of what step to take next. It is my belief however that we each have within us all we need to succeed and thrive in our lives, sometimes it just gets buried under all of our “stuff” and we could use a hand to rediscover it. I’m continually inspired by the strength, resilience, and creativity demonstrated in the life stories of the people I work with, and consider it a privilege to be invited to walk alongside them for a chapter or two. I respect the courage it takes to reach out for support, so welcome, I’m glad you're here!

If overwhelmed, stressed out, and anxious seem to be your common state of being, or if you are struggling with feelings of guilt, shame, and hopelessness, or if despite all your best efforts you can't seem to get from where you are to where you want to be, leaving you feeling stuck; then therapy can provide you with a safe space to be seen, heard, and understood. We can uncover the root of why you are stuck and struggling, and discover the innate wellness and wisdom that resides within you, which can help create a new way of being in the present, so that your future can look like what you desire.

Do you notice tension in your body and have a short emotional fuse? My practice focuses on identifying where your thoughts and feelings are stored in your body. I will guide you to build tolerance of uncomfortable sensations that feelings bring up to lessen anxiety, depression, grief, anger, and shame. Your childhood sets the foundation for your adult life. Exploring and changing the limiting patterns and beliefs created in childhood is essential to develop assertiveness, confidence, and authenticity as an adult. Integrating these changes creates a gradual shift to improve symptoms of depression, anxiety, low mood, and insecurity.

***ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS: IN-PERSON & PHONE/VIDEO*** We believe that there is good in every person, and hope in every situation. We have helped individuals, couples, and families heal, grow, and connect. As relational therapists, we appreciate the impact that our relationships have on our well-being. We do not see clients as having something wrong with their minds that necessarily needs to be fixed. Rather, we see our clients as unique individuals, each with their own stories and perspectives, embedded in important relationships and contexts that impact them. We see strengths and we see hope, even when it feels like there is none.

How can I find a therapist in Barrie?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In Canada, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or province where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

How much does therapy cost?

Some forms of mental health treatment (for example, seeing a psychiatrist, or seeing a psychologist in a government-funded hospital) are free under provincial health plans. Canadians who seek private counseling can typically expect to pay an average of $150 per session, although the actual price generally ranges between $100 and $3200 per session, depending on their location and the type of provider they select. Workplace benefits or private insurance plans often provide an annual counselling allowance, and some therapists offer sliding scale fees to clients who cannot pay full price.
