My approach to therapy is relational, trauma-informed and attachment-based.
Many of us carry unresolved pain that manifests in our adult lives and prevents us from reaching our full potential. Inner child work, using techniques like IFS and EMDR, can be a powerful, transformative process. It allows you to connect with the vulnerable parts of yourself that may have been neglected, hurt, or silenced. I specialize in helping women and youth explore the roots of these wounds, empowering them to break free from patterns that keep them feeling stuck. If you're struggling with anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, relationship challenges, or the effects of narcissistic abuse, I would be honoured to support you.

I integrate an attachment-based, emotionally focused, and IFS-informed approach while utilizing polyvagal theory to support self-compassion and healing.
Are you finding it difficult to understand and support your child’s needs? Perhaps they are experiencing intense emotions or struggling with friendships. Maybe your child has just received a new diagnosis, and you're navigating feelings of grief, worry, or self-doubt. Parenting brings immense joy, and it also comes with uncertainty, complexity, and moments of deep overwhelm. During those more difficult times, it’s completely natural to feel lost, confused, and unsure of where to begin. I aim to provide a safe space to explore complicated feelings, offering a compassionate, trauma-informed, client-centred, and nonjudgmental approach.

We focused on attachment-based interventions rooted in research.
Do you struggle with navigating challenging relationships with your partner, your child, your family, or even yourself that affects your day-to-day functioning and well-being? Do you feel exhausted by what it means to live up to someone else’s standards, just getting through the day, the thought that there’s no light at the end of the tunnel? Do you wonder if it could ever get better? Now more than ever, people are feeling anxious and overwhelmed in their feelings of disconnection and loneliness.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist who helps people who are struggling with feelings of guilt, shame, and depression. Many of these are common symptoms for people who struggle with mental health conditions. Understanding the barriers in a person’s life, and previous trauma, can help identify present day triggers and daily struggles. The goal of therapy would be to work collaboratively, using a psychotherapy framework, to identify the cause of the struggles and work towards understanding and reducing symptoms affecting your daily life.

Everyone gets a little stuck sometimes. We experience painful experiences that can be hard to move past. We become overwhelmed by our responsibilities and sometimes burn out. We get in arguments with loved ones, and we make mistakes. We're human. If you're looking to get back on track, you've come to the right place. My goal is to support you in learning to balance the conflicting expectations and responsibilities in your life, and also make time for the things that you enjoy. To support you as you explore your own needs and desires and learn to have compassion for yourself, instead of beating yourself up all of the time.

Attachment-based Counsellors

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
