I know what works against anxiety, depression, and ADHD .
Racing heart, shaking hands, breathlessness, and an urgent sense of imminent danger are some of the signs of anxiety. Some people have heart palpitations or flutters, prickling sensations, choking sensations, dizziness or nausea. It's important to rule out medical factors, but if a doctor has told you that your symptoms are being caused by stress or anxiety, know that this is a highly treatable condition and it doesn't mean you're weak or crazy. In fact, feeling like you're losing your mind and having difficulty focusing are features of extreme anxiety! We can address this.

I have two areas of specialty ADHD and psychological assessment.
Clients I work really well with are interested in collaborating and brainstorming about the challenging situations and difficulties in their lives. Overtime, we work together to develop understanding and solutions. I particularly enjoy working with individuals who suffer from ADHD or are impacted by someone who has ADHD . Of course clients with ADHD also often have co-morbid conditions like anxiety, depression and PTSD; I am very happy to help them with the issues related to these problems as well. Also, I enjoy completing complex psychological assessments; I find them challenging in a very good way.

I can help with the many needs that you may be faced with such as behavioral problems, ADHD , borderline personality disorder, trauma, anxiety, depression, stress, and life transitions.
I can relate to the many issues and needs of others. Many times, we will experience stress and anxiety or depression because of our past experiences. Some problems are so traumatic that we may actually feel a sense of hopelessness. Some of us need help in working through trauma, self-esteem, or confidence. we can accomplish goals on creating a healthier and more adaptive life where you overall feel better and when we start to heal and feel good we are going to enjoy the many things that we have in our lives a little bit more.

I tend to work primarily with kids, youth and adults who want to work through topics of ADHD , Addiction, Harm Reduction and Trauma. I also love working with folks who hate the idea of counselling. I base my work primarily off of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Nature Assisted Therapy which are a bunch of counselling lingo to say that I work with folks online, in nature, and through adventure (rock climbing, hiking, etc) to talk about life, explore different ways of thinking, and set goals you feel good about.

Mental health is nested within a network of relationships and our past experience. In therapy, we work together to untangle these networks to build awareness and form new and useful strategies that serve you and your loved ones. I work with youth and adults managing low mood/self-esteem, depression/suicide, anxiety, ADHD , eating and body image concerns, relationship difficulties (family, romantic etc.), grief, and day to day stressors. I work under consultation of a clinical psychologist which provides easy access to clinical assessments and diagnoses (e.g., OCD, ADHD ).

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
