I am trauma-informed and operate from an anti-oppressive/ queer/feminist framework.
Are you struggling with your relationships, whether that be with your partner(s) or kids? Are you trying to get clear on who you are now, not who you used to be? As a therapist who is trained relationally, I work with individuals, couples and families. I am interested in helping you change the story of yourself and seeing what else is possible for you. My approach is gentle and non-confrontational. I listen for what has not yet been said and I ask thought-provoking questions that help you explore your thoughts and feelings. I want you to feel relief and to feel more connected to yourself and your loved ones.

Do you feel like life is dragging you down? Like you are just getting through each day rather than enjoying what life has to offer? Or do you have a child or teen that seems overwhelmed or stressed out? Or a child who is struggling to manage their behaviour? Now, more than ever, life feels tough and people of all ages are feeling anxious, depressed and burnt out. Pushing these feelings aside is probably not working for you. It doesn't have to be this way. I believe therapy is an effective way to gain control and to improve mental health so that you or your child can thrive in their daily life.

In our daily lives, we can run up against challenges that hold us back from living our lives to the fullest. These barriers and challenges have profound impacts on our mental health and wellbeing. I believe that truly seeing your identity in its complex layers can help you to develop advocacy skills, equipping you to be an advocate in your own life or your child's life. When working with children and young adults, I aim to understand the perspectives of child and parent together, seeking to collaboratively develop treatment goals that are client centred.

Both my background and life experiences help me effectively work alongside racialized queer & POC in our community.
As a film and book lover, I’ve always been fascinated by the power of stories to shape our lives. Just like the characters we connect with on-screen or in a novel, the stories we tell about ourselves can have a profound impact on how we see the world and our place in it. In my practice, I bring this passion for storytelling into our work together, helping you explore and reshape your own story in a way that feels authentic and empowering. Whether it's finding new perspectives or rewriting old narratives, I believe that understanding and owning your story can be a powerful tool for change.

My practice is LGBTQ+ affirming - I work with individuals of all genders, sexual & romantic orientations, and relationship styles.
I work with youth and adults who are struggling with cumulative stress, anxiety, or trauma and want to develop a sense of emotional stability and well-being; they're looking for a therapist who can be authentic. Going beyond traditional talk therapy, I use somatic (body-based) psychotherapy in healing trauma, including developmental trauma - childhood abuse, neglect, or caregiver misattunement. Somatic therapy is a gentle, experiential approach that integrates awareness of body sensations to allow the body, mind and emotions to heal from trauma, so you can feel more connected and engaged in your life.

Are you struggling with self-doubt, feeling like you're never quite good enough, or constantly comparing yourself to others? Are these feelings holding you back from opportunities, from forming meaningful relationships, or simply from experiencing joy and satisfaction in your everyday life? Do you wish for a life where you feel confident and valued, capable of stepping into social and professional situations without that inner critic holding you back? Or perhaps anxiety is your constant companion, a relentless voice that colours your world with worry and fear, making ordinary tasks feel impossible.

LGBTQ+ Counsellors

Do LGBTQ-affirmative therapists receive special training?

Yes. Many therapists who practice LGBTQ-affirmative therapy have completed specialised training, either during their degree programme or as continuing education, to learn the core principles of affirmative therapy and how to best support their LGBTQ clients; some have received certifications in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy. Prospective clients should inquire as to a clinician’s background and training to ensure a good fit.

Why might I want to see an LGBTQ-affirming or LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

Queer and gender-non-conforming individuals frequently experience bias and marginalisation in day-to-day life. Working with a therapist who understands these unique challenges, as well as accepts and affirms their identity, can help LGBTQ clients feel safe and supported during therapy—allowing them to better navigate their relationships, mental health, and anything else that they wish to explore during therapy. It is important to note that many therapists can be effective in their work with LGBTQ+ individuals, even in the absence of specific training or background knowledge. The most important component in therapy is the alliance between therapist and client, and this alliance can exist between individuals with very different backgrounds.

How can I find an LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

You may wish to inquire about a therapist’s expertise with your specific challenges or concerns—depression, for example, or relationship strife—as well as their past experiences treating LGBTQ+ clients. Prospective clients may also ask whether a therapist has obtained additional training and/or certification in LGBTQ-affirmative techniques.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with LGBTQ issues?

Prospective clients should feel empowered to directly ask therapists whether they have received training or been certified in LGBTQ-affirming therapy; competent therapists will be happy to explain their educational background and preferred approach(es) to help a client find the best match for them. Clients may also wish to ask how a therapist has treated clients with their particular challenges in the past and what they expect treatment to look like.

Are all the therapists listed in the LGBTQ directory themselves members of the LGBTQ community?

While therapists may choose to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity in their profiles, the LGBTQ directory features not only those who have shared this information but also those who assert specialised training or experience in providing support to queer individuals, couples or families.
