I specialize in counselling with a focus on grief and loss, relationships issues, anxiety, depression, and life transitions.
Life often presents itself as a series of changes. Some of these changes lift us up, and some challenge us. If you are feeling unsettled by stresses in your life, wondering how to achieve more balance, meaning and purpose, counselling may help.

I specializing in trauma, grief and loss, sudden life changes, end-of-life, anxieties, relationships, individual therapy, marriage and family therapy, personal growth, self-awareness, exploring existential questioning, spirituality, and meaning making.
Not accepting new clients at this time - I work with individuals and offer supervision. Based on an assessment with you, we determine the best approach to meet your goals, and emotional needs towards personal health and growth. A few of the therapeutic approaches I use include, but not limited to, CBT which highlights thoughts, dysfunctional (unhelpful) thinking, and assumptions. We explore the unique meaning you make of situations and events. I also use Emotionally Focussed Therapy, mindfulness techniques that rely on neurosciences to restore emotional integrity, narrative therapy, and reconstruction therapy.

"Sometimes when it feels that life is falling apart, it is actually falling into place". During our life's journey all of us experience times of loss, despair, and loneliness. During these occasions we are often unable to see the patterns we need to change. I have previously spent many years practicing as a nurse. I came to realize that healing the body was less meaningful if the mind is struggling with personal pain.

As a bereaved parent, I have six years of grief support group experience, facilitating and providing support to parents as they navigate their journey through this unfathomable loss and trauma.
Life is unpredictable. We can get thrown curve balls at any stage of life. I see myself as someone who can help navigate stress, life transitions and coping with loss. Even in the darkest of times, I truly believe that people are resilient. I want to meet my clients where they are at, to help them be kinder to themselves and to support them as they make courageous steps towards change and personal growth. As a certified addiction counselor and trained in trauma sensitive EMDR, I believe in a holistic approach where a balanced mind-body connection is important to our over all well-being.

I also have experience working with individuals who struggle with body dysmorphia, anxiety, depression, addiction, grief/loss, attachment disorders and chronic illness.
While it is not uncommon to experience distressing emotions, maladaptive thoughts, and difficult life events, we don’t always have the tools or strategies to manage. Inability to cope can make us feel ashamed, alone and overwhelmed. As a therapist, I work with my clients collaboratively to build a trusting therapeutic relationship so that individuals feel supported throughout the course of therapy. I will always provide a non-judgmental and welcoming space so that you can be the most authentic version of yourself while feeling safe enough to do so.

I believe therapy is a collaborative process, where we can work together to build insight, self awareness and skills.

I work with people struggling with anxiety and panic disorders, low mood, relationship struggles, grief, trauma and more.
I consider it a privilege every single time someone welcomes me to share in their therapeutic process. My intention is to bring authenticity, empathy and non-judgemental guidance to the room. I believe that therapy is a very personal experience for each of my clients, so I try to enter the therapeutic relationship as a 'clean slate', free of judgement or any agenda other than what they want or need in their healing. In my practice, I work from an anti-oppressive, client-focused, strength-based framework and believe that therapy is a collaborative process and that you are the expert of your experience.

Change can leave us feeling like our world has been flipped upside down. You may be stuck in an old pattern. You may feel there is no way forward in a relationship, despite your constant efforts. You may be having difficulty enjoying a new reality. You may be having a difficult time after a loss or trauma. And the more you bring into awareness your problems, the more you get the nagging feeling that something has to change. And most of all, you want to feel okay again - or even better than before. I’m here to help.

My approach is client centered, warm and non judgmental. I feel it is important to create a safe space for all individuals. I think addressing the whole individual (mind, body, and soul) is imperative to healing. For those who prefer, I am willing to discuss existential questions like “Who am I?, What is my life’s purpose?, What is my mission in life?” While sitting with me we can explore your connection with a Higher Power(God, Mother Earth, The Universe etc.)
Presently, my area of focus is anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges and life transitions.
Overwhelmed? Alone? Stuck ? Are you experiencing a transition in your life that seems unbearable? Are you feeling angst and anxiety that has overtaken your daily schedule? Are you feeling stuck? Anxious? Are you inclined towards mindful and body-centred practices like yoga? Perhaps you've tried cognitive behavioural groups but don't feel that you are getting to the underlying root? I work with adults who are dealing with anxiety, depression, grief/loss, life transitions (e.g. separation and divorce), relationship issues, trauma, pregnancy and post-partum. I work collaboratively helping you to make sense of your experience, heal any pieces getting in the way, build new skills, so you ultimately can become more alive, aligned and peaceful.

Grief Counsellors

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
