Feeling stuck? Anxious? Can't concentrate? Not knowing which way to turn and feeling like you're watching yourself go through the motions but not actually living those moments? What you are experiencing could be due to a loss or change in your life, causing feelings of grief, anxiety, depression, or relationship issues. You may be seeking help for your child or teen's anxiety or behavioural issues. I want you to know there is hope for you and/or your children and there is help to move forward and reconnect with your life again. I can offer that help.

Waitlist for new clients
I work with youth and adults in individual therapy focusing on a range of topics including trauma, relationships, anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, grief and etc.
Waitlist for new clients! At times life can make us feel far away from ourselves and when that happens each day can feel challenging. Together I hope our work brings about new understanding of yourself as well as compassion for the ways our adaptive bodies and brains function to protect and connect us. In therapy I like to use laughter, curiosity, and genuine connection to build therapeutic relationship. I also practice in person at The Wren Centre, which offers somatic focused care to all ages in Carp Ontario. Please visit The Wren Centre's website for more information and pricing: www.wrencentre.ca

I have also worked with grief and bereavement - particularly perinatal loss and access to Medical Assistance in Dying.
The decision to access counselling is a personal one. Whether you've been to a counsellor before, or you are just starting to explore the options, thank you. Not just for reading this - but for taking the time to look into what is available and what may be right for you. People generally come to therapy for a reason, such as a specific event that they would like to discuss, or to work through uncomfortable emotions. Together, we can prioritize goals, explore and work through issues, develop new coping strategies, and create a plan to determine next steps.

Life isn't going as planned? Having difficulties connecting with your partner, or being able to relate to your children? Perhaps you're feeling isolated, alone, or lost, possibly out of control. These are all signals that life is currently not in balance. If you're finding that your current day to day is not what you had hoped, not what you intend it to be then I commend you for looking for a resource that can help you get back on track.

Whether you want to work in a short-term way, finding practical solutions to problems you face, or in a more open-ended way, exploring and resolving core issues, I bring a warm and gentle presence and listen deeply to what you bring. I have worked as a therapist for over 20 years helping clients address a wide range of issues including relationship difficulties, stress, anxiety, depression, early trauma and loss. My role often involves encouraging clients by acknowledging the wisdom and resources they already possess and by noticing and supporting new changes as they emerge.

My areas of practice include emotion dysregulation (BPD and bipolar disorder), depression and anxiety, and grief and loss.
Are you perpetually in fight or flight or shut down mode? Do your emotions feel out of control? Easily triggered? I'm Rachelle and I’m the face behind OPS, an online therapy practice. I specialize in nervous system stabilization. I work with those who have experienced trauma to process its emotional and the physical effects. My practice incorporates a focus on the mind-body connection, which most clients say was the missing piece in previous therapy. The body goes through just as much as the mind; effective therapy involves paying close attention to the body and developing nervous system resiliency.

Grief Counsellors

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
