Sometimes it can all feel like too much to take on, making it especially difficult to make sense of life's events. You're not alone. There is a valid reason why you feel the way you do, and those feelings deserve to be received in a gentle and kind way. This is where I can help. If you are feeling disconnected from yourself and looking to rediscover a sense of purpose, let's do the hard and joyful work of finding meaning as it pertains to your life. I work with adults at all life stages, who are seeking to redefine their relationships to trauma and oppression.

You are used to pushing through. But lately you are feeling drained, disconnected and overwhelmed. The passion that once drove you feels distant. Exhaustion isn’t weakness, it’s a signal. And it’s time to listen. Come as you are. This is a space to lighten your load, lay your burdens down and begin building a life that feels aligned, energized, and authentically yours. Today, women are grappling with various challenges, including stress, depression, anxiety, a sense of loss of identity. However, I firmly believe that individuals possess the power to undergo transformative journeys and evolve into their best selves.

Did you grow up in an environment where your needs were never met? When those needs go ignored, it can lead to anxiety, low self-worth, people-pleasing, or difficulty setting boundaries. These challenges often compound and magnify your other struggles like trauma, relationship issues, life transitions, self-esteem or depression. You may feel stuck, emotionally overwhelmed, or like your nervous system is caught in fight-or-flight mode. As a warm and supportive therapist, I’m here to help you break free from those stuck patterns, tending to those unmet needs, helping you to find balance, resilience, and renewed control.

Some days you may feel like life has become too heavy - it’s anxiety that keeps circling in your mind, the weight of past trauma, or adjusting to new health challenges. You may be doing your best to stay strong, but inside, it can feel exhausting and lonely. My own journey with Islam also influences my approach. After being diagnosed with health conditions, I turned to faith to find a renewed sense of purpose, healing, and balance. Learning to accept Allah’s decree and finding contentment in it became part of my personal path of healing - and this helps me walk alongside clients with greater empathy and care.

As individuals living in an often harsh world, often pushed to and fro from external and internal influences, we all will need at some point an anchor to ground ourselves. It should be the right of every individual to have the firm foundation to build on and achieve their greatest potential. We know that we can not grow to become our best selves in a vacuum. Just as building a strong foundation for a building required a group of skilled artisans so too do we as individuals need a strong skilled support network as none of us can succeed alone.

Our struggles affect our relationships with ourself and others. Many of them involve communication, self-esteem, change, fear for our future, frustration, aloneness, and making meaning of our lives. You don’t have to face these alone. I invite you to bring them for us to reflect on together. Our work life also affects, and is affected by, our mental health. I had an extensive corporate career before earning an MA in Counselling Psychology and HBA in Psychology. I understand the courage it takes to take the first step away from the familiar and toward new possibilities. I understand what it is to want your life to be different.

Pulled in different directions—family, culture, career—always trying to do the right thing, but never feeling like it’s enough. The mind never stops. Overanalyzing every decision, guilt creeping in no matter what. It’s exhausting to carry so much and still feel unseen, misunderstood, disconnected. Imagine waking up feeling lighter. More sure of who you are, less tangled in self-doubt. Decisions don’t feel like a battle, and there’s space to breathe, to grow, to just be. Feeling connected—to yourself, your choices, your life—without constantly questioning everything.

Are you a neurospicy empathic human who’s spent your whole life feeling different, too much, or not enough - all at the same time? You’ve unknowingly masked your way through school, work, family, or relationships, reading every social cue twice and trying to remember to "act accordingly", and it's left you feeling exhausted and misunderstood. Did everybody get a handbook to life, and you just... lost yours? You're over trying to "fit in", you actually like a lot of what makes you different, but managing life's responsibilities in this chaotic, overwhelming, and oh-so-loud society has always been challenging, and it's getting worse.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

Most Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are certified by one of the main professional associations, mainly the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), and will have a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC) designation with their name. Social Workers listed in the directory must be registered members of the college specific to their province. To be listed in the directory, Psychologists must be registered with the psychological college specific to their province or territory.

Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given the considerable variation in professional regulation and prerequisites across Canadian provinces, some providers may possess significant professional qualifications without necessarily holding professional memberships or being obliged to acquire them. As a result, they may be selectively included without the "Verified" seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Psychologists, counsellors, psychotherapists and social workers can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and supervised, practical experience that enable them to do so in Canada.

Psychologists have a master's and/or doctoral degree and have passed both written and oral exams. Psychologists are able to complete mental health assessments and provide diagnostic information to clients as well as provide counselling therapy or psychotherapy. Counsellors and psychotherapists are expected to have a master's or doctoral degree in counselling psychology, social work, or a related mental health discipline and certification by a professional association, such as the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Registered Social Workers possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work and where possible must be licensed or certified by the provincial government and/or regulatory college.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, the cost of a therapy session in Canada could be between $100 and $200. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. Some types of outpatient mental health services are covered by Medicare, provided these are performed by a licensed mental health professional in the provinces or territory you reside in and who accepts the assignment.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postal code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Professionals licensed by regulatory colleges and those certified by associations such as the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association are obligated to uphold client confidentiality unless there is a legal reason that requires them to disclose information. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there is the potential or known harm to the client or others, or a court order, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
