Most of my clients struggle with Anxiety, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and/or Depression. Often times, their day-to-day activities suffer due to the implications of these challenges. Their relationships, professional goals, and personal aspirations seem difficult to realize. Their primary goal is to live purposeful, happy lives alongside Anxiety, Depression, and/or OCD. They wish to manage the impact of these challenging mental health problems and feel empowered.

We can work together to reduce the symptoms of OCD, Tourette Syndrom, hair pulling and skin picking and allow you to live a fuller life.
Are you struggling with obsessions causing intrusive ideas, urges, images, or thoughts that are unwanted and may cause guilt, shame or worry? Engaging in actions in order reduce the upsetting feelings or to prevent something bad from happening? Do you require family members to accommodate or participate in the compulsion? OCD can cause you to feel stuck and worrying about the "what if's". I provide Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) which has been found to have the most strong effect on the successful outcome of treatment for OCD.

While stress, anxiety, sadness, health problems, and relationship conflicts are a common part of life, if they're interfering with work, school, family, relationships, or other areas of your life that are important to you, you may benefit from therapy. My clients experience a range of difficulties from anxiety disorders, OCD, PTSD, depression, substance or impulse control issues, chronic pain or health problems, and high-conflict relationships. The thing they all have in common is they feel like their emotions, behaviours, or past experiences have prevented them from living the fullest, most meaningful life possible.

I work with folks who are experiencing the symptoms of obsessive compulsive disorder.
Do you struggle with intrusive thoughts, images, impulses or urges that cause you anxiety? Are you confined to a personal prison due to your compulsions? You’re not alone. Obsessive compulsive disorder can be incredibly debilitating, but there is hope. You can take back control of your life, and I can help you get there.

I have helped clients with relational issues (marriage/family), addictions (substance, lifestyle, emotional), abuse and emotional crisis (anxiety, depression, anger, loss, body image, OCD) to bring restoration, healing and an enriched life.
Making your way to this website is an important step to improving your life. Choosing the right therapist is really about how well you are understood and guided to resolve what you came for. Since 1990 I've made my counselling different by not dividing people into issues or problems. You are you. What is happening in your life is unique. If you are still unsure about choosing the most effective therapist for you, go to our website and read for yourself the words of those who discovered how to make it happen in their own lives. Don't hesitate; this is the next step.

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine, fluoxetine, and sertraline, among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
