As Dr. Sue Johnson stated, “We are wired for connection” and meant to be dependent upon others. When our relationships experience stress, we feel disconnected, misunderstood, alone, fearful and in pain. Emotional pain, stress, shame, anxiety, anger, trauma and sadness impact all of us. I have come to deeply understand this throughout my 30+ year career listening to and empowering individuals, couples, parents and families in their healing, as well as, via my own personal journey in a life full of loves and losses.
Evidence-based approaches I use include: Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing, The Flash Technique, CBT, DBT and MBCT. I incorporate family systems, strengths-based and collaborative problem solving methods. I have engaged in extensive post-graduate training to fulfill my ongoing, ethical obligation to my clients.
My approach is empathic, non-judgmental, culturally sensitive and guided by attachment and humanistic lenses.
