Whether you are a child, pre- teen , adolescent or young adult, all stages of life have different challenges. Currently my work focuses on supporting children, adolescents and young adults who are experiencing emotional difficulties and other feelings of psychological distress that may lead to feeling isolated, stressed, sad, anxious, and overwhelmed. The overall goal is to help recognize and verbalize feelings, identify typical behavior patterns, defenses and inner conflicts in order to reduce symptoms, provide insight and improve daily functioning and quality of life.

I am client centred, strengths based and trauma informed, working with you toward your goals. I believe good mental health includes mental, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual health. I understand the importance of community, culture and traditions and the role of hope, belonging, meaning and purpose. Lack of access to resources and pressures of modern life affect mental health. I have training and experience with mental ill-health and mental illness and work across the lifespan. I listen to your needs with respect and build a therapeutic relationship. I offer video, chat, & phone counselling across Canada.

Clients come to me when they (or their loved ones) are dealing with anxiety, depression, behavioural challenges, mood swings, challenging life events, flash backs, PTSD, or childhood trauma. I use Brainspotting, EMDR, Creative Arts therapy and other strength-based approaches to help clients build confidence, self-understanding, and concrete strategies to manage the challenges of daily life. My clients learn about the brain-body connection of their distress and challenges, building positive skills to be able to manage life’s stresses and become less overwhelmed by emotional triggers.

Life isn’t always hard, but when things get challenging, when feelings of anxiousness and despair seem overwhelming, seeing a counsellor can help. Having a place to say it all out loud can be the gateway to better emotional and mental health. Sorting through and dealing with issues of anger, abandonment, fear, trauma and hopelessness can help you restore balance in your life. We can work together to find your way forward.

My work with clients often involves the development of skills in emotional awareness and regulation, self-compassion and mindfulness, empathy and emotional validation, or intra- and inter-personal conflict resolution. I also support clients in their goals toward behaviour change, personal growth, and career exploration. Teen Counsellors
Adolescence can be a time of both disorientation and discovery. The transitional period can raise questions of independence and identity; as adolescents cultivate their sense of self, they may face difficult choices about academics, friendship, sexuality, gender identity, drugs, and alcohol.

Most teens have a relatively egocentric perspective on life; a state of mind that usually abates with age. They often focus on themselves and believe that everyone else—from a best friend to a distant crush—is focused on them too. They may grapple with insecurities and feelings of being judged. Relationships with family members often take a backseat to peer groups, romantic interests, and appearance, which teens perceive as increasingly important during this time.

The transition can naturally lead to anxiety about physical development, evolving relationships with others, and one's place in the larger world. Mild anxiety and other challenges are typical, but serious mental health conditions also emerge during adolescence.
