We are all on a continuing journey of self-discovery, but sometimes we feel lost or overwhelmed or we get stuck and aren’t sure how to move forward. Counselling offers us the opportunity to explore ourselves, our relationships, and our lives in a profound way. I believe that you have the capacity to uncover the answers you seek and to access inner strengths that already reside within you. As a companion on your journey, I will walk by your side as you move toward growth and healing.

I love to work with highly sensitive people at a stage where they want to drop the toxic drama and begin to engage in life rather than react to it. I love working with couples and individuals who need a different framework because their current model of the world isn't working anymore. In the second half of life, we look to relate to the world, not manage it.

Learning to let go of negative emotions like anxiety, depression and anger takes work. Change isn't easy, but it is worth it. Together we will sort through past traumas and abuse, we will work on improving your self esteem, resolving grief and learn new healthier ways of coping. Ultimately I want to bring healing into my client's lives. Everyone gets lost from time to time, I am here to support you and to give you a hand as you find your way out of the darkness. The light is still shining behind the clouds, even when we can't see it. I want to help you to find your way back to the light. Remember, it is darkest before the dawn.

PLEASE EMAIL FOR WAITLIST INQUIRIES. Have you been to therapy with little success or change? Are you tired of approaches that focus on symptom management and ignore the deeper reasons as to why you are struggling? My clients are those that are struggling mentally, emotionally, and/or physically (in the case of chronic pain or illness) where conventional methods of therapy haven't worked for them. My clients are those that want freedom in their life. They are those who want to live without the limits of illness and the constraints of their physical, mental, and emotional burdens.

I assist a wide range of clients navigating challenges such as stress, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, life transitions, and relationship issues. My work with clients often involves the development of skills in emotional awareness and regulation, self-compassion and mindfulness, empathy and emotional validation, or intra- and inter-personal conflict resolution. I also support clients in their goals toward behaviour change, personal growth, and career exploration. As a therapist, I work from a perspective that recognizes the shared human needs within all of us, as well as the uniqueness of each individual's personal story.

Clients come to me when they (or their loved ones) are dealing with anxiety, depression, behavioural challenges, mood swings, challenging life events, flash backs, PTSD, or childhood trauma. I use Brainspotting, EMDR, Safe and Sound Protocol, Creative Arts therapy and other strength-based approaches to help clients build confidence, self-understanding, and concrete strategies to manage the challenges of daily life. My clients learn about the brain-body connection of their distress and challenges, building positive skills to be able to manage life’s stresses and become less overwhelmed by emotional triggers.

I am client centred, strengths based and trauma informed, working with you toward your goals. I believe good mental health includes mental, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual health. I understand the importance of community, culture and traditions and the role of hope, belonging, meaning and purpose. Lack of access to resources and pressures of modern life affect mental health. I have training and experience with mental ill-health and mental illness and work across the lifespan. I listen to your needs with respect and build a therapeutic relationship. I offer video, chat, & phone counselling across Canada.

Teen Counsellors
Adolescence can be a time of both disorientation and discovery. The transitional period can raise questions of independence and identity; as adolescents cultivate their sense of self, they may face difficult choices about academics, friendship, sexuality, gender identity, drugs, and alcohol.

Most teens have a relatively egocentric perspective on life; a state of mind that usually abates with age. They often focus on themselves and believe that everyone else—from a best friend to a distant crush—is focused on them too. They may grapple with insecurities and feelings of being judged. Relationships with family members often take a backseat to peer groups, romantic interests, and appearance, which teens perceive as increasingly important during this time.

The transition can naturally lead to anxiety about physical development, evolving relationships with others, and one's place in the larger world. Mild anxiety and other challenges are typical, but serious mental health conditions also emerge during adolescence. Finding a teen therapist in Kentville and addressing a disorder early on can help ensure the best possible outcome.
