Navigating relationships with ourselves, others, and the world is difficult on a good day, and it is my belief that symptoms of depression, anxiety and trauma warrant as much attention and care as any physical ailment.
Art therapy combines art-making and psychotherapy, and can be used as a tool to express and process emotion, gain new insights and rescript narratives. Previous art-making experience is not required! I also draw inspiration from CBT, attachment theory, mindfulness and strength-based practices, and am person-centred and trauma-informed across all approaches.

The Centre for Psychodynamic Insights is a virtual clinic specializing in psychodynamic psychotherapy. This approach explores the root causes of symptoms by uncovering and understanding underlying emotions through evidence-based treatment. Through collaborative dialogue, we examine unconscious thoughts and emotions shaped from childhood to the present. We work to relieve symptoms by understanding how these patterns affect current experiences, and create targeted strategies for meaningful change long-term.

Are you feeling the pressures of life weighing on you? Do you feel like you're a burden to others? Are you stuck in a cycle of thoughts and behaviour you can't break free from? Do you wonder why you continue tolerating certain treatment from those around you? A non-judgmental and trusting therapeutic relationship can provide a solid foundation upon which healing change can begin. A good therapist will listen, will never tell you what to do, and can help empower you to respond to your feelings honestly. Counselling results in new awareness, growth, and an increased quality of life when a balance of change and acceptance is found.

I also work with individuals presenting with personality disorders, trauma and other relational/interpersonal difficulties.
My clinical orientation is strongly rooted in the integration of psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral theories. This perspective gives me an understanding of clients’ emotional needs and distress, and their difficulty soothing this pain alone and within their relationships. It also provides a frame to attempt to identify the root of their struggles.

I work from the perspective that everyone has basic healthiness, a natural yearning for brilliant sanity and the wisdom of wholeness as part of their being. Conditioning and confusion can obscure these endowments but they are never absent. My job is to help draw out this wisdom for healing that is already there, by encouraging awareness. I begin with client-centered listening that honours where you are now, and the change you want. I then move into more experiential work to facilitate transformation. The contract for change and the pace of change is always in the client's hands

Some of us feel challenged by anxiety, depression, or anger. Some by the relationships in our lives with partners, family, or in the workplace. Parenting never fails to challenge our best intentions, or we can also find ourselves repeating behaviours and ways of thinking that no longer work for us. My clients are typically active partners in change – sometimes to change those habitual behaviours or ways of thinking, sometimes to interact more effectively, sometimes to nourish personal growth, and sometimes just to clarify and explore.

Whether you are looking to address childhood trauma, anxiety, work-life balance, challenging family dynamics, personal or relationship goals, or just need to talk to someone to even know where to start, I can accommodate you with evening or weekend sessions.
I believe everyone is capable of change. Trauma and PTSD Counsellors
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
