Life can be challenging. Sometimes we need help to improve the quality of daily experiences & relationships. Anxiety, depression, PTSD, addiction (sex, gambling & substances), anger, grief, complicated relationships, personality disorders and self-esteem all influence our lives. As a clinical supervisor for two addiction facilities, I have experience with complex mental health issues. I assist clients in identifying codependency traits, narcissists in their relationships and how emotional dis-regulation contributes to complications. Having overcome my own challenges aids in an authentic connection with my clients. Compassion and humour are tools I use while I assist clients in reclaiming identity

I’m a seasoned therapist offering short-term, focused therapy for adults seeking thoughtful, practical support around a specific concern. I work with care and intention, typically over 6–8 sessions, supporting people who feel ready for something to shift and want help moving forward. We all go through periods of transition or uncertainty. I often work with people who have put a lot of thought into their lives, yet find themselves at a point where something needs attention—whether around retirement, health changes, relationships, boundaries, major decisions, or the more existential questions of identity, purpose, and meaning.

I work with people who feel stuck in cycles of overthinking, self-criticism, self-doubt, people-pleasing, perfectionism, and intellectualizing. These patterns often show up as burnout, anxiety, overwhelm, procrastination, avoidance, low mood, imposter syndrome, shame spirals, or difficulty setting boundaries. If you’re used to pushing through, minimizing your own needs, or managing everything on your own, I aim to offer a different way forward.

Beginning therapy can feel overwhelming, but it's a positive step toward prioritizing your overall well-being. You may feel stuck in patterns you don’t fully understand, overwhelmed by emotions, disconnected in relationships, or simply exhausted from trying to hold it all together. With warmth and care, we can work together to begin making sense of what’s happening beneath the surface. I offer a safe and supportive space to slow down and explore your unconscious and conscious thoughts, feelings, and beliefs that are impacting you.

I am best able to help clients who are desirous of making changes in their lives and understand that "the slower you go, the faster you get there". My practice provides a safe space for patients to put all of their thoughts and feelings into words. As patients talk, they learn about themselves and better understand their journey. As the unconscious becomes conscious, patients are able to make more thoughtful and meaningful choices and thus begin to live more full and meaningful lives.

Feeling "not good enough" can take everything out of us. Whether it stems from trauma, depression, anxiety, disordered eating, or anything else in between, this "not good enough" belief leaves us feeling unsafe in ourselves and unassured in our future. My aim in our work together is to create a collaborative pathway forward that accesses strength in vulnerability and honours all parts of self. Working from a warm and healing-centred lens, I emphasize the necessity of an honest and open therapeutic space. Let's end the cycle of not "enoughness" by building the safety and security that you have always deserved.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
