Trauma is isolating, but it doesn't have to be.
With 17 years of experience, I look to nurture safe relationships when working with the parts of you that have been traumatized by sexual violence. Sexualized violence, both historical and or recent, can be crippling; however, as daunting as it may feel, traumatic experiences can be healed. Progress indicators include a decrease in triggers, an increase in self-worth, and a decrease in misplaced shame as you begin to feel unburdened. With this, you start to feel a sense of freedom and clarity in daily life again. Please know healing is possible, and you have the right to feel it. Warmly, Selina - MSW, BSW, RSW.

I work with teens (14+) and adults who are navigating PTSD, trauma, depression, emotions that feel hard to manage, identity and sexuality.
My specialty is helping you understand your internal world, why certain emotions hit hard, why old wounds show up in new places, and how to respond instead of getting swept away. I offer tools that support emotional regulation, and healthier boundaries, while also helping you rediscover your strengths and resilience.

My approach is trauma-informed, neurodiversity-informed, and holistic.
I invite you practice a few deep breaths as you reflect on aspects of your journey that led you to this page. Have you been feeling stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed? Exhausted or drained? Perhaps seeking to to learn new coping tools or wanting to develop your self-care practices? When we bottle up emotions and feel disconnected to both ourselves and others it can be difficult to access healing, recovery, and growth. Counselling can provide a space to press pause from busyness or turmoil. Seeking a safe space to rest. reflect, and to feel restored.

How many people are willing to understand the true feelings in a person's heart? I believe it is easy to define psychological illness, but it is very hard to find out a person's true feelings. This is the biggest challenge for one’s career. With that in mind, I work to understand all feelings and help all my clients learn to work through their difficulties to gradually become internally independent until they no longer need me.

I work with clients who may be struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder and women's issues like Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder(PMDD), Postpartum depression (PPD), and Pre-Peri and post-menopause depression.
The way I view human beings is that every person's life has three aspects: public, private, and inner life. Public life is what the world sees; private life is shared with close ones; but the inner life is known only to ourselves. It holds our deepest thoughts, feelings, and desires often left unspoken. We may feel confused or overwhelmed without a space to express these emotions. That’s where a therapist comes in who is not just a professional, but a compassionate companion. A therapist listens without judgment, helps us understand our emotions, and guides us toward clarity, healing, and self-awareness.

Trauma and PTSD Counsellors
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
