It is a relational, attachment-based therapy that helps clients connect with themselves in a secure, gentle and guided way through healing past emotional pain.
Want to improve your relationships—even if others aren’t ready to join you in therapy? Whether you're healing from a breakup, navigating family conflict, or simply seeking deeper connection, I can help. I work with individuals and families (not couples) who are motivated to better understand their emotions and how they impact relationships. Using Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), I help clients heal attachment wounds, build emotional resilience, and communicate more clearly. My approach is warm, nonjudgmental, and focused on helping you create lasting, meaningful change—starting with yourself.

I draw from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) and Attachment-based theory.
Navigating life’s challenges can be difficult. When we are facing obstacles, it can feel difficult to access the parts of us that help us in moving forward. I see my role as a facilitator in this process – meeting you where you are in your journey from a place of compassion & curiosity. I work collaboratively to help you to foster healing, growth and change.

Depending on your needs, we can draw from solution focused, cognitive-behavioral approaches, attachment-based, narrative, mindfulness based, or parts-work perspectives.
Are you looking for the right fit and just can’t seem to find it? Frustrated by feeling like you’re the one educating the clinicians? I work with clients who have trouble finding professionals who understand them. Clients whose lives, relationships, and understandings differ from the neurotypical, heteronormative, and monogamous centered by western society. I have special interest in working with clients who may describe themselves as belonging to these groups: Neurodiverse, LGBTQIA+, Ethically Non-Monogamous, Kinky, and/or those involved in non-traditional family/relationship dynamics. If this is you, know that you are not alone!

Attachment-based work allows us to examine the impact that the past has on the present.
Hello, welcome. Maybe you have been experiencing feelings of grief, confusion, isolation, exhaustion, loss, or feeling “stuck”. Maybe you’re looking for another perspective, or someone to help you understand your thoughts and feelings. Together, we can acknowledge the path that brought you to this point, and open your heart to new and creative ways forward in your journey. We will meet in a safe, quiet space, or online in the comfort of your own surroundings. This is your time: an opportunity to think, feel, and say things that might not be easy to share.

With over 10 years experience as a trauma therapist, my practice is strongly committed to you and your needs for support and healing. I am especially passionate about working with folks in the perinatal period, which includes pregnancy, post-partum, and the early years of parenting. I have both clinical training and lived experience in navigating the perinatal period, and genuinely grasp the challenges of this time where folks are often bombarded with information and advice from the internet, social media, health and social systems, family members, and friends; much of which can feel more overwhelming than helpful.

You may find yourself caught in patterns that no longer serve you, disconnected from the life you imagined or feeling stuck in grief. Perhaps you find yourself often overextending to meet the need of others’ while your own needs go unmet. Or perhaps you are experiencing a major life transition. You may long for deeper connection to a partner & perhaps feel invisible in your relationship. If you're feeling overwhelmed, unfulfilled, or simply ready for something different—you're not alone. Therapy can be a space to reconnect with yourself or your partner, unpack and process your past, & move forward with intention & clarity.

Attachment-based Counsellors

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
