I am an art therapist who works with children, teens and adults. I continuously marvel at the wisdom of the body and bring an embodiment/mindfulness focus into my practice. My practice is queer affirming, trauma informed, abolitionist, and integrative. Together we can integrate stressful life experiences and challenging emotions, cultivate self-compassion and inner-knowing, and foster connection and belonging. I am available for online as well as in-person in my studio in the Annapolis Valley. Online art therapy can be a great fit for people who live farther away.

By creating a supportive and relaxed environment through the therapeutic dynamic I supoort mt clients in their therapeutic process and collaborate with folks who are polyamorous, kink-centered, neurodivergent, LGBTQIA2S+ and within the disability community. I have a strength-based approach and encourage my clients to gently unravel parts of themselves through somatic interventions, talk therapy and psychotherapy while supporting clients to understand themselves more deeply. With a creative background I feel best suited with folks who are open to a playful and mindful approach to their healing journey.

You struggle with difficult thoughts, memories, feelings, sensations, and urges that negatively affect your relationships, work, school, and other aspects of life. At times you feel stuck dealing with the the same thing(s) over and over. In therapy you want to feel heard, understood, and respected. You want work on the topics and goals most important to you. Regardless of the situation or challenge, I believe in your potential to live well, and as a collaborative, trauma-informed, and strengths-oriented therapist, I can help you struggle less with life's difficulties and spend more time being the person you want to be.

Life can be a lot, and we don’t get to skip over the rough parts. It might be an especially stressful time, or old issues and patterns might be holding us back. Sometimes it’s from moving through systems that cause harm. And sometimes we just get tired, and need someone in our corner. It can help to talk to someone who's not directly involved for support, insight, and a safe place to unpack it all. The longer I do this, the more I feel “mental health” isn’t quite the right term… it’s often physical, or spiritual, or cultural. The good news is we can start wherever you are. We can talk, move, go outside, or just feel what’s there.

I am a Clinical Therapist working with families and children, age 5-10. As school begins many issues kids put aside for their summer begin to resurface - peer pressures, bullying, learning issues, and self esteem. Children are often dealing with parental separation, divorce, remarriage and family deaths. Social media is a mixed blessing bringing children into contact with adult worlds - floods, wild fires, rising costs of everyday living; when we adults are concerned, our children are affected. No surprise, they are now experiencing high levels of anxiety, leading to moodiness, defiance, poor sleep and school problems.

My ideal client is at the bottom of their “to do” list. They are overworked and pushing themselves beyond capacity. They are likely suffering from symptoms of burnout, stress, anxiety and/or depression. These clients often struggle to understand their own needs because they have neglected themselves, and their mental health for far too long.

I believe the most important relationship we’ll ever have is with ourselves. When we experience trauma, how we view our world, self & others, changes. Even after the trauma has passed, our minds make us believe we are still in danger which makes it difficult to feel calm. Trauma causes intrusive thoughts, cognitive distortions, flashbacks & nightmares, which can lead to depression, anxiety, avoidance & maladaptive coping strategies including substance misuse. Feeling overwhelmed & managing intense emotions can be difficult. If this sounds like you, I am interested in working with you to heal past wounds & regain a sense of control.
