In difficult times, we struggle to cope, and often engage in self-defeating behaviours that can further complicate our lives. I offer a service where you can feel safe to share without being judged. I have practiced counselling for over 17 years, with a 25+ year social work career history. I am a registered social worker, and obtained my Bachelor of Social Work degree from McGill University. I have also completed some MSW study at Memorial University, and have received intensive training from psychoanalyst Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes-Reyes.

I am a certified clinical trauma professional, who is internal family systems informed and certified in accelerated resolution therapy and I have completed Phase I and II Brainspotting.
Sometimes life leaves us stuck and wondering how to move forward. Our past influences present experiences in so many different ways, and the answers to the challenges we face often lie within. You might be looking to process a specific event or maybe you have patterns in your relationships and want to change how you connect with the world around you. No matter what your reason for coming to therapy, we will figure out how to move forward together toward your goals.

I have substantial experience treating complex trauma.
One of the consequences of stress is re-experiencing it in the mind and body, leaving us depleted and disconnected from life. Intense reactions can be confusing and distressing. Making sense of our experiences, putting them in perspective, and changing unhelpful ways of thinking, behaving, and coping increases our resilience. I welcome individuals from all walks of life and have a particular interest in nurses, physicians and first responders; military, veterans and their families; survivors of adverse childhood experiences; adult children of narcissistic parents; and those experiencing workplace stress and life transitions.

I specialize in working with RCMP members and spouses, other first responders and their spouses, veterans, trauma and PTSD, and rural, remote, and very remote clients.
Trust and comfort take time. You might not be sure about the virtual-only office but there are great benefits. If you are an RCMP member, other police member or first responder, CAF member, veteran, or family/spouse of any of these, you are in the right place. Even though I haven’t had boots on the ground, being part of the family, I get how things can be.

I offer trauma-informed care, mindfulness, and behavioural strategies for grief, trauma, relationships, addictions, anger, and workplace stress.
Welcome — I’m Ben, and I’m here to help you navigate life’s challenges with care and understanding. I believe that having a skilled and compassionate counsellor alongside you can open up new insights and pathways you may never have considered on your own. My approach is grounded in unconditional positive regard — I see you as a whole person, not a set of problems — and my priority is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your experiences and begin to heal.
