You may be coming to therapy because you’re ready for something in your life to change. Maybe you feel emotionally overextended, caught in painful relationship dynamics, struggling with meaning, or carrying more responsibility for others’ feelings than your own. You might look functional on the outside while feeling exhausted, resentful, or unseen on the inside. If any of that resonates, you are not alone and you don’t have to keep holding it by yourself. My approach to therapy is grounded, relational, and deeply respectful of your lived experience.

I have experience working with individuals in the areas of depression, anxiety, anger, parenting, stress management, trauma, attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, and self-esteem.
I generally work from a Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy approach, however, I believe it is important to remain client-centred and adapt from other treatment modalities when necessary i.e. Mindfulness, Solution Focused etc. I am currently booking virtual and in person counselling sessions.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist with more than ten years of experience supporting individuals with their mental wellness. I believe that clients are the experts of their own lives and at times become stuck with internal conflict, ways of being, or are in situations that are not conducive to growth. I believe that everyone is on their own spiritual journey and that for some, participating in therapy can encourage deeper understanding and help to unearth meaning in their life. I enjoy helping clients work to identify the source of thoughts, feelings and concerns with the goal of arriving at a place of understanding and acceptance.

Are you stressed, anxious and stuck? Are you caught in patterns of spiraling and then spinning your wheels? Do you feel weighed down by feeling like you're never enough? I get it. And if you're ready, I can help you figure it out. Maybe you want practical skills to help regulate your emotions, or communicate more effectively, or be more self-motivated. Perhaps you want more clarity in your relationships, or to be more decisive and effective. I can help you understand your brain and, I hope, start treating yourself with a bit more kindness - because we could all use more of that!

We’re often told to “be kinder to ourselves,” “worry less,” or “communicate better.” And many of us do understand why we are the way we are. We have insight, self-awareness, and plenty of knowledge about what we “should” be doing. Yet somehow, that knowing doesn’t always translate into real change—whether in how we treat ourselves, how we show up in relationships, or how we move forward in the areas of life that matter most.

It could be related to relationships, mental health such as depression or anxiety, lack of confidence or self-esteem, work conflict, high self-expectations or any other number of life stressors.
I take a collaborative, person-centered approach and draw from a number of theoretical frameworks depending on each client's situation, needs and goals. I often use analogies to suggest new perspectives of what may be happening and how it may be impacting you- It can be hard to see the forest for the trees, let's explore together to see what's been missing.

Self Esteem Counsellors
When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?
When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?
Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?
Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
