We work with the brain’s natural capacity to process, integrate, and release to resolve trauma, addiction issues, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and OCD.
You’ve done the work. You’ve talked it through. You know your story. And yet… certain patterns won’t budge. Old emotional echoes still stir. Compulsions creep in. You might feel like your nervous system has a mind of its own. (Spoiler: it kind of does.) This is where deeper healing begins. I work with people who feel stuck, even after doing their best to understand themselves. Some struggles don’t shift through insight alone — they’re held in the body, in the nervous system. I help clients go further to create real, lasting change.

I integrate brainspotting, EMDR, somatic experiencing and others to help you work through symptoms like anxiety, depression, PTSD, panic, OCD, disordered eating and stuck patterns in relationship and other areas of your life.
It might be hard to imagine what “better “ might feel like, or to think about what life might be like without having to struggle with anxiety, depression or panic. Clients often come to my office having spent a long time learning to use skills to manage their symptoms, but were never told it was possible to heal from them. I work alongside clients to support them in gaining new insights and to heal the ways their bodies have held onto past experiences to resolve their symptoms. With the right tools and support, change can happen quickly. It can have a lasting and profound effect on your life.

I help clients struggling with birth trauma or postpartum conditions like depression, anxiety, or OCD.
Hi, I’m Kayla – a Canadian Certified Counsellor, Mama of two, and birth trauma survivor in St. John’s, Newfoundland. In 2021, I experienced a traumatic miscarriage, and in 2022, I narrowly escaped a stillbirth due to a fetal-maternal hemorrhage. These experiences, both deeply personal and transformative, have shaped my passion for supporting others through their own perinatal journeys. As a therapist and a Mama, I combine my professional training with lived experience to offer compassionate, personalized support for those navigating infertility, loss, pregnancy, early parenthood, and more.

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine, fluoxetine, and sertraline, among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
