Life can quickly become so busy that everyday interactions become overwhelming obstacles, impacting your life in ways you may not even realize. I aim to create a safe, non judgemental space where you can explore your experiences and get support while improving self-compassion. I also support your ability to tune into the present, exploring your felt senses as messages that your body is communicating to you. When we develop the right skills and ability to acknowledge our emotions, what once felt overwhelming can become manageable.

I specialize in supporting adults with ADHD who feel stuck, scattered, or frustrated trying to stay focused and follow through. Many of the people I work with describe starting strong, then losing momentum, surrounded by unfinished tasks and self-criticism. They’re capable and driven, yet worn out from trying to keep up. Like many of them, you might be searching for more structure, calm, and confidence in daily life, and a clearer understanding of your brain so you can build consistency that lasts.

Asking for help can be one of the hardest things to do - I’m glad you are making that first step! My therapy room is a safe and accepting space where there is no agenda to change or "cure" you. It is to see you, as you are. My goal is that you feel seen and understood. Many clients come to me describing themselves as depressed, overwhelmed, stressed, stuck or anxious. Most are surprised that I don't try to ’get rid' of these symptoms, but that every part is welcome and has an important story to share. Through mindfulness we bring awareness to these feelings, to understand and embrace them to enable healing at a deeper level.

I typically work with clients who are struggling with various aspects of everyday life and would like some support as they work through a difficult time, transition, or issue that has emerged for them. My clients are often seeking ways forward to move through these challenging moments as well as new skills for life ahead so they can thrive once again, and feel fully engaged with life and its positive behaviours and emotions. Much of my time is spent carrying out assessments with clients who are wondering about characteristics they see in themselves, or that their parents wonder about (e.g., autism). Hello ! I’m Hannah with Spark Your Growth. My work is focused on helping people heal trauma, understand how the brain works & learn to navigate their emotions. For nearly a decade I have seen clients build self-confidence, cope with life’s stressors, create stronger relationships, regulate stress, overcome burnout and achieve a life they want to live. Given that each person is unique, I understand there is no one-size fits all when it comes to therapy. I use a combination of process-oriented, somatic & cognitive therapies to create an approach that will meet each individual's needs & interests.

How does chronic pain therapy work?
Engaging with a psychotherapist to help treat chronic pain does not mean that one’s pain is all in their head. Therapy for chronic-pain patients has been shown to benefit both the mind and the body, targeting physical symptoms and increasing daily functioning. In other words, for many, addressing their emotional health through therapy affects their physical health. A therapist can help a client challenge unhelpful thoughts about pain and develop new ways to respond to it, such as distraction or calming breathing techniques. Studies have found that therapy can be as effective as surgery for certain cases of chronic pain and many doctors recommend trying psychotherapy in advance of considering invasive surgery.
What are the most effective treatment options for chronic pain?
Stress, anxiety, depression, catastrophising, ruminating, lack of activity, and social withdrawal all make chronic pain worse. Addressing these issues, research shows, can help people gain control over their pain symptoms. Therapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavioural therapy, biofeedback, and mindfulness-based stress reduction, along with greater pain-management education, have been found to help people reduce fear and disability.
Are there new treatments for chronic pain?
Many cases of chronic pain, particularly those involving back pain, remain medically unexplained. But there is evidence that changes in the brain or nervous system are caused by previous physical ailments such as tissue damage; in such cases, the brain may continue to send out pain signals despite the physical cause having healed. To aid patients under these circumstances, a recently developed treatment known as pain reprocessing therapy (PRT) is designed to help the brain “unlearn” this response. A PRT practitioner helps individuals to reduce the “threat value” of their ongoing pain signals until they can reappraise them as less threatening and fear-inducing. They also help an individual to develop new emotional regulation skills.
How long does therapy for chronic pain take?
There is no set timeline for recovery from chronic pain, especially as there may be a range of physical and psychological causes for any individual’s discomfort, but most patients should expect to see a therapist for a number of weeks or months, typically spanning at least 12 sessions. Studies of pain reprocessing therapy found that many individuals’ experience of pain lessened in eight sessions over four weeks.
