I work with individuals navigating challenges such as anger management, stress, and men's mental health issues.
Welcome, and thank you for being here. I know that finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming, and it takes courage to start this process. My ideal client may be struggling with trauma, neurodivergence, or issues around identity and emotional connection. They want to feel understood, supported, and empowered to heal. Their goals often include managing anxiety, healing past wounds, and improving relationships, all while gaining clarity and self-awareness to create meaningful change in their lives.

I feel people need to communicate with each other more often. We need to talk in a non-judgmental environment and realize that it's ok to ask for help. I will try to help anyone who wants to make positive changes in their life. I feel counselling is not only for those living with a mental health disorder, it is also for those who wish to maintain optimal overall wellness.

I help individuals and couples explore and strengthen their relationships; with partners, family, friends, and themselves. Our experiences shape how we think, feel, and connect with others and ourselves. When those experiences include hurt, loss, or disconnection, they can leave lasting patterns that we don’t always see right away. In our work, we might explore how past relationships and attachment patterns show up in your present, make sense of your emotional world, strengthen communication, explore healthy boundaries, or build practical skills to manage the anxiety, depression, and trauma that can come from relational struggles.

I typically work with clients who are struggling with various aspects of everyday life and would like some support as they work through a difficult time, transition, or issue that has emerged for them. My clients are often seeking ways forward to move through these challenging moments as well as new skills for life ahead so they can thrive once again, and feel fully engaged with life and its positive behaviours and emotions. Much of my time is spent carrying out assessments with clients who are wondering about characteristics they see in themselves, or that their parents wonder about (e.g., autism).

I enjoy working with themes that occur over the life span, such as: Freedom from the self-doubt or anxiety that holds you back; Relational patterns that block your ability to connect with yourself and others; Fear of change, death, living a whole life; Looking for healthy ways of growing and processing unhealed trauma and pain; Developing your intuition and listening to your inner voice; Learning how to identify your thoughts, feelings and sensations.

I have experience working with individuals in the areas of depression, anxiety, anger, parenting, stress management, trauma, attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, and self-esteem.
I generally work from a Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy approach, however, I believe it is important to remain client-centred and adapt from other treatment modalities when necessary i.e. Mindfulness, Solution Focused etc. I am currently booking virtual and in person counselling sessions.

I am passionate about supporting individuals find their way through challenging or stressful life situations, destructive patterns, powerful emotions and unhelpful relationships. I believe in prioritizing the client as the expert of their lived experiences and empowering you with necessary tools/skills that can be helpful outside the therapeutic process. While you may not have an exact 'goal' in mind, collaborative meaning-making and perspective can be equally valuable in understanding and moving through challenges.

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
