I know reaching out for therapy is tough for most folks. It can bring on anxiety and make you feel vulnerable. It is important to me to provide you with a safe and welcoming space, free of judgments. I will hear your concerns, provide validation, and guide your journey by developing a therapeutic relationship built on the foundation of trust, acceptance, and hope. I support folks across the lifespan: children, teens, parents, adults, perinatal & postpartum, and couples. I hold deep compassion for those faced with infertility. Whatever your struggle is, you don’t have to be alone. Reaching out is the first step. Just start there.

Thank you for visiting my profile. I have a Masters Degree in Social Work and nearly 20 years experience offering therapy to individuals, couples and families. Reaching out for therapy can be difficult. It can create feelings of anxiety or shame, or a fear of being misunderstood or judged. I believe that therapy should be a non-judgmental, collaborative experience, where you can comfortably uncover and confront the obstacles preventing you from living the life you deserve. My goal is to provide a non- judgmental, compassionate, trauma-informed, queer positive, gender affirming, respectful space that is inclusive to all.

You deserve to feel excited about life, to like who you are, and to feel more than just stress and worry! I think many people are nervous when it comes to the idea of therapy/counselling because there is sometimes a fear that if I face the music, will it just get louder? Well, I want to provide you with a space that allows you to control the volume, while I help guide you and support you through the process. I want you to reach your goals, overcome emotional suffering, and develop the skills you need to feel empowered as you navigate this complex thing, we call life.

Becoming a therapist has been an intentional journey that is the direct result of a desire to collaboratively facilitate healing in myself and others. It is difficult to be in the world right now and the impending fear and anxiety around us can contribute to feelings of overwhelm and a sense of disconnect from ourselves and others. This might have us feeling hopeless, isolated or 'stuck'. Our work together will foster the resilience and self-compassion needed to weather these storms and to recognize and celebrate the wisdom found in the struggle.

We’re all doing the best we can to get by. In that process, we can develop perspectives and behaviours that initially served to protect us and now, at times, trap us or keep us from living fully. Maybe you’ve had experiences that have problematically influenced how you view yourself, others, and the world, or you find your body is reacting to everyday situations in ways you don’t understand and feel you can’t control. Therapy can help you to develop compassion towards and accept yourself, understand how some of your past experiences may be influencing you, and address trauma related body responses and beliefs.

Reaching out to start therapy can be anxiety-provoking. It's important to me that you feel comfortable in session and we build a trusting relationship as it's the foundation of therapeutic success. My aim is to help you understand why you feel or behave in the ways that you do and find helpful coping strategies to live a more meaningful life. Therapy goals are based on your priorities and values. In sessions, we will discuss how your feelings, thoughts, trauma or current stressors are impacting your life. I incorporate mindfulness, self-compassion, somatic regulation and value-based actions to work towards your goals.

Teen Counsellors
Adolescence can be a time of both disorientation and discovery. The transitional period can raise questions of independence and identity; as adolescents cultivate their sense of self, they may face difficult choices about academics, friendship, sexuality, gender identity, drugs, and alcohol.

Most teens have a relatively egocentric perspective on life; a state of mind that usually abates with age. They often focus on themselves and believe that everyone else—from a best friend to a distant crush—is focused on them too. They may grapple with insecurities and feelings of being judged. Relationships with family members often take a backseat to peer groups, romantic interests, and appearance, which teens perceive as increasingly important during this time.

The transition can naturally lead to anxiety about physical development, evolving relationships with others, and one's place in the larger world. Mild anxiety and other challenges are typical, but serious mental health conditions also emerge during adolescence.
