Have you experienced a traumatic event in your life? For some people, trauma was experienced in childhood, or through sexual assault, being involved in an accident, being in an emotionally or physically abusive relationship, not having your basic needs met, or experiencing it through your work as a frontline worker. Untreated trauma can fester in one's body and present as anxiety/panic, depression, anger, irritability, sleep/eating issues, inability to concentrate, low self-esteem or intimacy issues.
I specialize in working with people who are experiencing symptoms related to trauma. I am formally trained in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) and DBT (dialectical behaviour therapy). I also use CBT (cognitive behaviour therapy) and talk therapy.
Through my 15 years of diverse experience supporting children, adolescents and adults, I know first hand that how each individual identifies and experiences trauma is different. My approach is empathetic, empowering and validating. I believe that making a connection with your therapist is a very important part of your journey to healing.
