My practice focuses on working with adults, treating complex trauma (C-PTSD), intergenerational trauma, childhood attachment wounds, and relational injuries. In working with trauma survivors, I am experienced in working with those living with depression, anxiety, persistent pain and substance use, which are often rooted in trauma. For the majority of my career, I have had tremendous opportunities and the honour to work with First Nations communities, from Six Nations of the Grand River Territory to Nuxalk Territory. I am trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, which is a somatic (body-based) therapeutic modality.
Sensorimotor Psychotherapy recognizes the body as a wise healer. We work with movement, sensation, and five-sense perception, not just emotions and cognitions. Trauma first and foremost affects the body, and talk therapy alone is rarely enough. Our bodies hold onto our lifelong experiences – the wounding, wondrous, and restorative.
I support persons to access the wisdom of their bodies, the parts of the body that know how to heal old and unconscious patterns that are interfering with living a fuller life. Together we can explore what might be holding you back, softening the stuck parts, creating more openness for personal growth, loving connection, and transformation.
