I have over ten years experience supporting adults and youth.
Hi, I’m Ashley — Are you feeling stuck? Have you tried traditional talk therapy without seeing the progress you hoped for? You’re not alone — and you’ve come to the right place. I’m a compassionate, open-minded therapist who believes in getting to the root cause of what’s going on beneath the surface. I work with a diverse range of clients and don’t limit myself to a single specialty. That said, I’ve found I connect especially well with individuals who have experienced trauma and are now navigating diagnoses like anxiety, substance use, ADHD, ASD, depression, borderline personality disorder, or intense emotional ups and downs.

My name is Anna, and I am a trauma-certified and registered Clinical Therapist/Clinical Social Worker. I am deeply passionate about supporting individuals, couples, and families in their healing journeys through a holistic and eclectic approach. I work from a client-centered, anti-oppressive, and trauma-informed lens, meeting each person with deep compassion and curiosity. I believe that you are the expert of your own life and experience; however, as humans, we can sometimes get stuck and may need a little extra support, accountability, and encouragement along the way to recalibrate, heal, and move toward growth and empowerment.

Life is overwhelming sometimes. You feel stressed, unable to sleep, you find it challenging to quiet the thoughts of failure and fear for the future. You try your best but you feel like you are failing your family, your kids, your friends. You struggle to feel happy, and there are days it's hard to get out of bed. Sometimes the dark thoughts will not go away but you want to to make changes, have better coping skills and build a better future.

Do you remember when you were learning how to ride a bike? Undoubtedly, the process of learning was through trial, error, and perhaps guidance from a caregiver. It’s a common misconception that a therapist’s role is to simply give advice. That is not the case. My role in our therapeutic relationship is to guide you through the process – just like learning to ride a bike for the first time. It takes effort, time, and perhaps some discomfort…But the “aha” moment of finding balance brings a sense of freedom and independence.

I have openings for psychoeducational and psychodiagnostic assessments in both Moncton and Ottawa in early 2026. I am registered with both CPNB and CPBAO. My doctoral training has been in evidence-based practice and my primary theoretical orientation is cognitive-behavioural, including exposure and response prevention therapy. I often integrate other therapeutic methods (i.e., emotionally focused therapy, and mindfulness) as my therapeutic approach is to work collaboratively with clients.

I provide assessments for children, adolescents, and young adults.
I take an integrative and client-centered approach, tailoring each assessment to the person’s unique needs. As I work primarily with younger clients, I adapt my approach to their developmental level. Building a genuine and trusting relationship is at the heart of my practice, as I believe feeling understood and supported is key.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
