I am a therapist working in the Fredericton area with plenty of experience working with trauma, anxiety, and depression.
This isn’t how you’d imagined your life. Every day seems a little more difficult, and all those things that you used to enjoy just don’t hit the way they once did. You’re worried all the time, and when you look around you hardly recognize the life you’re living. This isn’t how it was supposed to be.

I have worked with people in the field of mental health, addictions, and trauma for 8 years.
Counselling can be an ambiguous process. Often people are worried therapy is not for them if they do not have specific goals. However, therapy is for those who are feeling lost and unsure. Being lost is a great place to start and it is my job to ask good questions and find an approach to help you see where the path might be.

I work with adults whose nervous systems have learned to stay on high alert, often due to trauma, chronic stress, illness, injury, neurodivergence (ADHD/autism), or long-term caregiving and professional responsibility.
My approach offers a steady, thoughtful space to slow down, listen to the body, and gently shift out of patterns of hypervigilance, overwhelm, or collapse. Therapy becomes a place to reconnect inward and develop embodied boundaries without self-abandonment.

As a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional – Level 2 (CCTP-II), I strive to create a safe environment where you can explore your experiences and be your authentic self.
Do you remember when you were learning how to ride a bike? Undoubtedly, the process of learning was through trial, error, and perhaps guidance from a caregiver. It’s a common misconception that a therapist’s role is to simply give advice. That is not the case. My role in our therapeutic relationship is to guide you through the process – just like learning to ride a bike for the first time. It takes effort, time, and perhaps some discomfort…But the “aha” moment of finding balance brings a sense of freedom and independence.

With adults I have interest in personality, dissociation, trauma, attachment, and substance use.
You're always someone worth caring for - can't stress that one enough. Therapy is an invitation to explore your relationships with others, with yourself; to find safety and meaning, in whatever that looks like. For some folks, that means negotiating the things that used to work but no longer do, for others that might be truly feeling like they can feel safe with themselves.

This approach helps patients explore unresolved conflicts and past trauma that impact current functioning.
The Centre for Psychodynamic Insights is a virtual clinic specializing in psychodynamic psychotherapy. This approach explores the root causes of symptoms by uncovering and understanding underlying emotions through evidence-based treatment. Through collaborative dialogue, we examine unconscious thoughts and emotions shaped from childhood to the present. We work to relieve symptoms by understanding how these patterns affect current experiences, and create targeted strategies for meaningful change long-term.

When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
