I believe therapy works best when you feel genuinely seen, heard, and respected. I strive to create a calm, non-judgmental space where you can show up exactly as you are — whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or simply unsure of what you need. I hold a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and am a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC). My approach is collaborative and compassionate, drawing from evidence-based practices while always tailoring therapy to you as a whole person — your experiences, values, and goals. I don’t believe in a “one-size-fits-all” model of counselling.

Have you ever been asked, “How are you doing?” and responded, “I’m doing great!” when, really, you’re struggling to get out of bed, it feels like everything is falling apart, or your mind won’t stop racing and overthinking that one conversation? Well, you aren’t alone! Many people experience anxiety, depression, hurt, and a wide range of adverse life events that they often hide behind polite smiles and responses. Leigh Bardugo once wrote, "Maybe the gift of being human is that we do not give up - even when all hope is lost." Do you feel like all hope is lost? Then, let's get together, be human, and find your reason not to give up.

Are you tired of cycling through coping skills just to get through the day and want to understand what’s underneath? You may be seeking support for a recent or ongoing traumatic experience, a safe space to explore your childhood, or help in understanding and changing harmful behaviours. Perhaps you’re a man wanting to talk about issues that don’t always feel easy to name. I support clients in working through difficult emotions, gaining insight into past experiences, rebuilding a sense of safety and self-identity, and using coping strategies that actually fit. When appropriate, EMDR can be used to target specific traumatic memories.

I have over ten years experience supporting adults and youth.
Hi, I’m Ashley —
Are you feeling stuck? Have you tried traditional talk therapy without seeing the progress you hoped for? You’re not alone — and you’ve come to the right place. I’m a compassionate, open-minded therapist who believes in getting to the root cause of what’s going on beneath the surface.
I work with a diverse range of clients and don’t limit myself to a single specialty. That said, I’ve found I connect especially well with individuals who have experienced trauma and are now navigating diagnoses like anxiety, substance use, ADHD, ASD, depression, borderline personality disorder, or intense emotional ups and downs.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.
How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.
How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.
How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
