I most often work with women navigating anxiety, motherhood, fertility, and major life transitions, as well as couples wanting to strengthen connection.
Welcome! Many of the people I work with come to therapy carrying a quiet heaviness. Sometimes it shows up as anxiety that hums in the background. Other times it’s the stress that builds from parenting, relationships, or work, along with the pressure to hold everything together. Whatever brings them in, they want to feel lighter again, to breathe more easily, and to feel more like themselves.

This includes improving current relationships (families and couples) as well as dealing with trauma and grief related to abusive and unhealthy relationships.
I became a therapist because I believe everyone deserves to be safe, happy and well. My first goal in counselling is to understand your perspectives and lived experiences because you are the expert in your life. Together, we find ways to solve problems, make changes and reach goals. I work with children (8+), teens and adults, both individually and as couples or families using a person-centered approach. This means that I focus on creating a safe, judgement-free space where each person is empowered to learn new skills, develop new approaches and understand themselves to a deeper level.

My goal is to support individuals, couples, and families in moving out of reactive cycles and toward something more intentional.
We all need to know what to do right now to manage our everyday lives. But, we also need to understand why the same patterns keep coming up. Together, we'll consider both. We’ll slow down, gain perspective, and explore the emotions, experiences, and relationship patterns shaping how you relate to yourself and others. Alongside this deeper understanding, we’ll focus on practical strategies you can begin using right away to manage current challenges, communicate more effectively, and reduce the intensity of what you’re going through.

I am an experienced Relational and Somatic Psychotherapist. My foundation is in relational talk therapy, grounded in the belief that healing happens when your story is explored in the presence of a compassionate witness. At the same time, our experiences don’t only live in our minds. Stress, trauma, and emotion are also held in the nervous system and body. I offer an integrated, mind–body approach to therapy, weaving conversation and insight with body-based practices such as Somatic Experiencing, IFS-informed parts work, and breath-based techniques. This supports deeper, more lasting change by addressing both mind and body together.

I work with individuals, couples, and families of all kinds as they explore their wounds, calm overwhelming emotions, heal spiritual hurts, and strengthen their closest relationships.
Many of the people who come to me are carrying trauma, anxiety, or spiritual hurt and feel overwhelmed, alone, empty or distant from people; far from God. They want a space where they can be honest about their pain without fear of judgment. Their hope is to break old patterns, rebuild relationships, reconnect with their Creator and rediscover clarity, meaning, and the steady presence of someone who will walk with them like Jesus does. I offer warm, creative, person-centered, and trauma-informed therapy grounded in compassion and faith.

Couples and families who feel lonely, tired of arguing, and wanting to be heard can learn the skill of listening and understanding one another, creating a deeper sense of connection.
I am here to walk with you on your journey as I have walked on my own. I recently moved "back home" to New Brunswick, after practicing in Pittsburgh for over 35 years. Teaching others to love themselves and one another is my passion. I support you to mine the gold you carry deep inside yourself, releasing shame, isolation and the sense of “not being enough” that we all so often feel.

FAQ - Marriage Counselling
What issues does marriage counselling help with?
Marriage counselling can address common relationship concerns, including ongoing conflict, communication challenges, emotional distance, or difficulty making decisions together. It may also be helpful for couples who are not currently experiencing major problems but want to prepare for future life changes. For more specific concerns affecting one individual in the relationship, such as trauma, depression, or significant substance use concerns, individual therapy may be more appropriate than marriage counselling.

When is the right time to start marriage counselling?
There is no single “right” time to start marriage counselling, but certain signs may suggest that counselling could be helpful. For example, a couple may benefit from counselling if many conversations end in conflict, if negative interactions are becoming more frequent, or if relationship stress is affecting other areas of life, such as sleep, work, parenting, or friendships. Some couples also seek counselling proactively. Premarital counselling, for instance, allows couples to discuss communication styles, finances, family dynamics, and future goals before getting married. Other couples may start counselling before a major life change, such as becoming parents, relocating, or navigating a stressful career transition.

Is marriage counselling effective if only one partner wants to go?
Marriage counselling may still help even if one partner is more hesitant to attend, as long as both people are ultimately willing to participate in sessions. Once counselling is underway, the more hesitant partner may become more open to sessions that can strengthen the relationship and build coping skills and communication strategies. If one partner refuses to attend, individual therapy may still help the other partner understand their needs, set boundaries, and decide how to approach the relationship.

Is online marriage counselling as effective as in-person?
There are differing opinions on the best format for marriage counselling. While some studies show that online marriage counselling can be as effective as in-person counselling, some argue that in-person counselling is more effective because it allows the therapist to better pick up on context and body language cues. In addition, in-person counselling may be a better fit for couples who are working through high-conflict issues. Ultimately, the “best” format depends on the couple’s specific needs and concerns.

What is faith-based marriage counselling and how is it different?
Faith-based marriage counselling incorporates a couple’s religious or spiritual beliefs into counselling. It may be a good fit for couples who want to discuss their relationship, values, and marriage within the context of their faith. For example, Christian marriage counselling may appeal to couples who want a counsellor familiar with Christian beliefs about marriage. Other forms of faith-based counselling may incorporate Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, or other religious perspectives into sessions.

How much does marriage counselling cost and is it covered by insurance?
Marriage counselling often costs CAD $150 to $250 or more per session, depending on location, therapist experience, session length, and practice setting. Many clients pay out of pocket, although some private or employer-sponsored extended health benefits may cover part of the cost. Lower-cost options may be available through sliding scale fees, which adjust the cost of counselling based on your income or financial circumstances, and community clinics, which may offer reduced-cost services through nonprofit organizations or publicly funded programs.
