In person appointments or virtual. I know that you want more than anything right now to start truly enjoying and living your own life. For that to happen though, you need to feel understood & supported. The problem is you feel guilty asking for help and putting your needs first, leaving you feeling exhausted and lonely. So many people like yourself feel they have lost themselves and are struggling to live enjoyable lives. I understand you are used to putting others before yourself and that you are frustrated that no one else steps in to help.

I believe healing happens when we feel deeply understood — not just supported on the surface, but met at the root of what we carry. My work is grounded in depth-oriented psychotherapy, integrating modern psychological insight with ancient wisdom traditions and East–West perspectives.

When it comes to managing stress, one of our greatest strengths is choosing which thoughts to trust. After attending Yorkville University as a mature student I believe it is never too late to set a new goal, dream a new dream, and choose a different action. I take a gentle and collaborative approach to counselling to help clients determine choices that are supportive of their personal values. With flexibility in mind, I have several counselling approaches to pull from.

I provide counselling services to adults of all ages and adolescents (aged 14+). I believe each client is unique and tailor my practice to each individual. I know that reaching out is difficult, so an empathetic, anti-oppressive approach to care is my top priority. I am trained in various modalities, including dialectical behaviour therapy, EMDR, narrative therapy, motivational interviewing, and cognitive behavioural therapy. My approach is variable, depending on what you would like to work through. I often draw from many of these practices.

My name is Anna, and I am a trauma-certified and registered Clinical Therapist/Clinical Social Worker. I am deeply passionate about supporting individuals, couples, and families in their healing journeys through a holistic and eclectic approach. I work from a client-centered, anti-oppressive, and trauma-informed lens, meeting each person with deep compassion and curiosity. There are moments in life when everything feels heavier than usual. Maybe you’ve been carrying things quietly for a long time, or something recent has left you feeling unsteady. Together, we can explore what’s weighing on you, slowly, honestly, and with someone who’s really listening.

Self Esteem Counsellors
When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?
When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?
Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?
Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
