Life can feel heavy sometimes; maybe you’re going through a big change, struggling with anxiety or depression, trying to manage substance use, or just feeling unsure about who you are and what you’re feeling. My role is to give you a space that feels safe, supportive, and free of judgment, a place where you can show up exactly as you are.

If you are struggling with divorce, family issues, moral injury/systemic betrayal, depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD or any other social issue, I can help.
I specialize in trauma and am currently completing a professional Trauma Certification course with Laurier University. Often when I meet clients they also have autoimmune issues, or chronic illnesses accompanying their trauma, A.R.T assists with this, along with Pain Reprocessing Therapy.

I work well with clients struggling to find moderation or control, especially those with Anxiety or OCD.
Are you looking to get back in control of yourself and your life? Often, we can feel like we are victims at the hands of our emotions, like someone else is running our lives and we are just watching it happen. When we are in this space, we can find ourselves distant from our loved ones, our values, and even ourselves. I work to empower you back to a place where you are able to decide what you want your life to look like, so that when difficult thoughts and emotions arise, you can face them, decide what you want to do with them, and act in a way that you can be proud of.

Hi! I'm Britt (she/they). If you have ADHD, Autism, or a combination of both, your therapy needs are different than neurotypical people. In my view, that’s a wonderful thing! I am neurodivergent too, and supporting people who are feeling stuck is a lifelong special interest of mine. The truth is, sometimes we reach a point where we don’t know what to do, and we need to invite someone else into our headspace to offer perspective and guidance. This is an ancient practice that has evolved over time, and often now looks like going to a therapist. You’re on a time-tested path to making a real change. Welcome. :)

As a second generation immigrant and member of the queer community, I strive to create a space that is inclusive, affirming, and responsive to the diverse identities and experiences my clients bring. With each client, my goal is to foster a space where they feel accepted, seen, and heard. I know therapy can feel overwhelming at first, so I aim to make the experience as comfortable and reassuring as I can.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Counsellors

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine, fluoxetine, and sertraline, among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
