I am currently in the process of becoming ADHD Certified for Adults & Children. I work mostly with young clients who are experiencing symptoms of ASD, ADHD, behavioural issues, and helping with emotion regulation; I enjoy working with adults as well. I am also able to provide parenting support so you can help implement strategies at home. I always do my best to find fun ways to teach skills to my younger clients, ensuring that going to therapy is enjoyable, and not another chore. I want to help each of my clients reach their personal goals, whatever that may be.

This isn’t how you’d imagined your life. Every day seems a little more difficult, and all those things that you used to enjoy just don’t hit the way they once did. You’re worried all the time, and when you look around you hardly recognize the life you’re living. This isn’t how it was supposed to be.

I've always been fascinated by stories and how they connect us to one another. At university, I studied kinesiology, health sciences, and psychology, which gave me a holistic perspective on mental health and wellbeing. After earning my bachelor’s from Queen’s University, I worked in journalism before returning to my passion for mental health.

Sometimes life's problems can seem overwhelming– when we do not know how to deal with them we can become 'stuck'. But once problems are shared with another, they become more tangible and that is a good starting place! The beauty of therapy is that the counsellor becomes a sort of 'tour guide' for exploring challenges and, in collaboration, determining a way forward. Getting those recurring thoughts out of your head and into the real world for exploration is the first step to feeling better. So, no matter the size of your challenges, I promise to provide genuine compassion and warmth to support you in this process.

My journey to this calling was gradual and almost natural – I have always had a longing to help others. Beginning the healing process can be challenging but I would be honoured to be a part of the process. I strive to create a warm and safe environment through empathy, respect, and compassion. A space where you can be your authentic self. I come from a non-judgemental stance and acknowledge that you are the expert of your own experience. I use an eclectic approach with my clients – collaboratively, we can develop a therapeutic plan that best suits your needs. The process will be organic and at your own pace.

What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.
How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.
How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.
How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
