To me, as a Registered Psychotherapist, human being, and author of 'Binge Crazy: A Psychotherapist's Memoir of Food Addiction, Mental Illness, Obesity & Recovery', seeking help is a strength. It requires the courage and wisdom to reach your own truths. I'm rooted in Gestalt therapy, a holistic, here and now approach encompassing every aspect of your life, from current anxieties, relationships, and family dynamics to past and recent trauma. I also include other modalities, from creative forms of expression to more structured methods. In Gestalt, you are the expert (on you) and I am the guide to help you explore what needs healing.

The emotional damage from life's frustrations and disappointments often underlie the mental preoccupation with food, eating, weight, body-image and control, and if left unchecked, can get worse over time. From my training and 40+ years of lived recovery, learning to accept and honor the way forward can be challenging and exciting.
Your treatment is tailored to your specific needs. I draw on a range of approaches, including psycho-dynamic, 12-step, harm reduction and bio-psycho-social influences. More importantly, I focus on the underlying causes. The LGBTQ+ community is welcome. A sliding scale ($100-$150) is available. You choose.

FADES, a support group led by Natalie Gold, RP, of changehappens.ca, is for women who struggle with food addiction or disordered eating -- binge eating, compulsive or emotional eating, food restriction, and bulimia. FADES offers support to women who could benefit from some professional guidance with a small group of peers in a safe setting at a low cost (pay-as-you-go per session). But it is NOT a substitute for psychotherapy. Phone interview required. Due to COVID-19, FADES shifted online. NOTE: FADES is currently on a break till July 2023.
