I draw from a variety of approaches to support my clients, including relational, narrative, emotion-focused, and internal family systems therapy.
We all need a space where we can be ourselves. When walking alone gets hard, therapy can make life manageable again. As your therapist, I’ll help you make sense of your emotions and discover your potential for transformation so that you can live your most authentic, fulfilling life. I am a queer, neurodivergent therapist whose practice is grounded in dismantling structural violence within and outside of the mental health system. I support adults and youth ages 14+, with a special focus on neurodivergence (e.g. giftedness, Autism, ADHD) and interpersonal trauma (e.g. emotional, verbal, physical, or sexual abuse and neglect).

My go-to modalities are traditional Talk Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Attachment Theory, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Inter-Family Systems Therapy.
I believe mental health care is not a one-size fits all. Everyone experiences mental health concerns at some point in life. That experience is different for everybody and care must be personalized with considerations of the wholeness of the person and their circumstances.

Our sessions will be grounded with the use of Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy; or by simply using our safe therapeutic space to tell your story, shape your future, and be assured you are being heard as you move towards your end goal.
I am an MSW, RSW, psychotherapist, and Registered Dietitian. For over 20 yrs, I have specialized in helping individuals and families to successfully move beyond the effects of a range of interpersonal relationship challenges including eating disorders. Our journey together is paced as we attend to mental health, emotional, and /or Eating Management skills-building needs. Along the way, it is often necessary to identify and adjust "taken-for-granted" thought patterns, emotions, and behaviors that no longer align with your evolving life goals. Together, we rebuild your skills, confidence, hope, life, and important relationships.

I offer a mindfulness-based, trauma-informed, integrated approach to healing anxiety, trauma, and the challenge of life transitions. I walk alongside my clients to nurture self-awareness and acceptance of all aspects of Self.

My approach to therapy is adapted to each client's needs, though I often incorporate narrative work or story-telling, along with trauma-informed work.
During the decade I spent working as a social scientist, I heard stories of strength, resilience, and courage. I also heard stories of humiliation, abuse, and grief. Throughout, what I have found most compelling is the storytelling. If you are here and are considering reaching out, I cannot wait to hear your story. My own journey with therapy has led me here. For most of my life, I felt I was walking in the dark, often stumbling and getting hurt. When I began therapy, it felt like someone switched a light on, allowing me to finally see the obstacles I had been running into. My goal is to help each client to turn on their own light.

My work is collaborative, trauma-informed and anti-oppressive while utilizing various modalities such as narrative therapy, mindfulness, and emotion-focused therapy.
Hello! I have a passion for working with individuals struggling to find their way to a more peaceful and centred life, be it due to turbulent relationships, depression, anxiety or anything else life throws our way. I centre my practice on an understanding that people are more than their problems and that we have the ability to create space for possibility and change. I also have a specific interest in supporting Black and Afro-Caribbean people as I know first-hand the comfort derived from accessing a therapist with lived experience of anti-black racism.

I specialize in trauma, substance use, relationships, wellness, and mindfulness, utilizing Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, a strengths-based approach, trauma-informed care, and mindfulness practices to guide clients in healing, addressing challenges, and fostering lasting positive transformation.
Have you experienced trauma and feel like you cannot move on? Do you feel numb and easily triggered? Do you sense that a part of you wants to share, but another part makes it impossible to talk about what happened to you? Trauma affects everyone differently. Some may shut down emotionally, avoid intimacy, and become unable to create a trusting bond with others, while others may engage in excessive spending, substance use, and seek out unsafe relationships. While it may seem unachievable, with the right support, you can process trauma and open up for healing.

Narrative Counsellors

Is narrative therapy evidence-based?

Narrative therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments such as cognitive behavioural therapy. Some small studies do show that depressed and anxious individuals who were treated with narrative therapy reported improvement in anxiety and depression symptoms.

How long does narrative therapy last?

Narrative therapy is less structured when compared with psychoanalysis, for example. Narrative therapy is more open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a few months, and sometimes a year or longer. Patients see their therapist one to two times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a person’s challenges and progress. Individuals can also practice the principles of narrative therapy after treatment has ended.

Does narrative therapy work?

Narrative therapy can help a person manage or reduce symptoms of conditions like depression or anxiety. This type of therapy encourages a person to reflect on the moments of their life when their particular problem was not at the forefront of their minds — perhaps life celebrations, achievements, and other successes. The individual is encouraged to rewrite their storyline as if their particular problem was not part of their life. This therapy may offer benefits that are hard to measure.

What are the possible limitations of narrative therapy?

Narrative therapy is person-centered or client-centered, and the health professional pays more attention to the subjective narratives that are constructed by the client, as opposed to other objective measures. The therapist privileges the individual’s perspective over all others. This open form may feel frustrating for individuals seeking a more structured approach; certainly, no one therapy type will work for every individual.
