Hi there, and welcome to this brave space. I am so glad you are here. I see you thinking that you’re failing...that you can’t keep up and you’re losing who you are as a person. So many people feel this way, that they no longer can manage the stresses of life. A recent loss. A new baby. A challenging relationship. Work demands. These experiences can really take a toll. You find yourself wondering, “Am I alone?” or “Will it always be like this?”

Are you working so hard in every aspect of your life only to feel like things still aren’t good enough? Like your relationships are destined for failure, you’ll never be able to cope with the curveballs life throws at you, and there’s something inside yourself that just feels… wrong? Maybe you've convinced yourself that if it just looks like you have the perfect career, relationship, and family, that somehow it will become your reality. I’ve been down this same road, and what I eventually realized was that, when I spent all my time focused on being "better" or achieving more, I lost sight of myself and those who mattered most to me.

You’ve lost sight of who you are, what you want, and what matters to you. You feel unmotivated. You worry a lot. On a deep level, you feel alone. Your sadness and stress are valid responses. Your experiences are part of being human and you’re not alone in feeling this way.

People see you as dependable, organized, and always smiling. Someone they can always rely on for help or support, someone who will always make time for other's. But on the inside you feel like a fraud, overwhelmed, exhausted from trying to keep up this charade, and even resentful at times.

Virtual (on-line) counselling will be my current mode of therapy. Peace and Balance versus Anxiety and Stress. My passion is helping people empower themselves to cope better in their lives.. in relationships, in self-confidence, in spirituality. Sometimes we need to talk about very personal things with an objective, compassionate, nonjudgmental listener. I have worked for over 25 years helping people find themselves and find their 'peace of mind.'

Sometimes we need someone to listen us in order to gain insight and understanding, then we can come up with a plan to help manage or address what we are going through - whether it's a difficult life transition, a loss, or stressful life event(s). My approach to counselling is to create a collaborative process to support individuals with their mental health recovery. I work from a strengths-based perspective in order to assist people as they overcome adversity and life challenges.

“What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly," said Richard Bach in Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah- Do you often feel weighed down by anxiety, depression, trauma, or addiction? Emotions can be so overwhelming that you can't often express them in words. I always encourage my clients to adopt a relationship-center strategy in assessing their needs and explore their issues honestly to create a positive change towards a greater sense of well-being and mental health.

Our brain and body can protect us from danger, but when the pain becomes too much for us to handle, we can often feel stuck and unable to move forward. When we are struggling more than we can cope, it is easy to feel isolated, powerless, and hopeless. You don’t have to do it alone. I will hold and provide a safe space for you, and together, we will honour all parts of you and determine your unique path to healing. While healing looks different for everybody, it is my goal to assist you in embracing your true self.

Being a young adult in today’s world is difficult. Challenges with relationships, social anxiety, and work or school stress can be overwhelming to manage alone. These challenges can add up over time and you may find that you are not coping as well as you would like. You may become avoidant, feel burnt out, or lose relationships you once cherished. I want to help you regain control of your life and overcome the difficulties life brings.

Likely you find yourself avoiding situations or having difficulty just getting through the day. How can I find a therapist in N6P?
Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In Canada, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
How much does therapy cost?
Some forms of mental health treatment (for example, seeing a psychiatrist, or seeing a psychologist in a government-funded hospital) are free under provincial health plans. Canadians who seek private counseling can typically expect to pay an average of $150 per session, although the actual price generally ranges between $100 and $3200 per session, depending on their location and the type of provider they select. Workplace benefits or private insurance plans often provide an annual counselling allowance, and some therapists offer sliding scale fees to clients who cannot pay full price.
