I’m a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). I work with all stages of the life cycle with a particular focus on children, youth and families. I help individuals figure out what goals they wish to achieve and support them to make a plan of how to get there. It is wonderful to talk to family and friends but they are often not "neutral" in terms of the support they provide. Having someone to talk to outside that circle to listen, reframe what is going on and offer strategies can be invaluable!

Change is tough, but not impossible. I believe humans are survivors, pushing through difficult times, healing wounds and ultimately thriving. Therapy support is a key component to moving beyond surviving to thriving. When you work with me, you can expect patience, empathy and a willingness to travel through the therapy process at your pace. I will be a guide and a partner as you share your pain and your successes. I encourage reflection and I support you to stay in the moment through my use of mindfulness techniques that we can use in the therapy room and that you can take with you.

My goal is to support and encourage clients to utilize skills and characteristics they already possess to cope with the difficulties and challenges of life and to embrace new perspectives, new skills, and understanding that can help them move forward in their journey. I believe that therapy is a team effort, where both the client and the therapist have a lot to contribute to the process. My passion in life is helping and supporting people, so if you would like counselling or have any questions about the process, I would be happy to talk with you.

Are you struggling? Overwhelmed? Feeling frustrated or stuck? Or maybe you are a new parent with a little one (or 3). The last 3 years have been really hard, and your feelings are valid. Taking care of our families, our loved ones and ourselves during all of this can feel like it's too much some days. You are not alone. Maybe you'd like to talk about strategies that might help ease the tough moments, or maybe you just need someone to sit with, while you talk about the hard and scary stuff. We often brush aside our own needs to take care of our people, until it bubbles over and we don't recognize ourselves. Let's get back to you.

At times, our distress can be overwhelming but when we walk together it builds strength. The therapeutic relationship is an important aspect which will strengthen as we navigate your present concerns whether it is developmental or behavioural. As we delve deeper into the presenting issue there’s the consideration of your own strengths, lived experiences, culture, and background. These aspects are taken into consideration when establishing treatment and goals for treatment.

Operating from a person-centered approach, I believe everyone is the expert in their own life, they may just need some guidance to manage it. I feel a strong therapeutic relationship is the key to clients meeting their goals, and I strive to create a space where young-adults and adults feel safe to talk, share and explore challenges they are facing. I value collaboration and tailor treatment to each individual, and I will utilize a number of evidence-based techniques to help clients work through obstacles, develop healthy coping habits, and flourish in their life.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In Canada, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or province where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
How much does therapy cost?
Some forms of mental health treatment (for example, seeing a psychiatrist, or seeing a psychologist in a government-funded hospital) are free under provincial health plans. Canadians who seek private counseling can typically expect to pay an average of $150 per session, although the actual price generally ranges between $100 and $3200 per session, depending on their location and the type of provider they select. Workplace benefits or private insurance plans often provide an annual counselling allowance, and some therapists offer sliding scale fees to clients who cannot pay full price.
